5 Malaysian varsities among Asia's top 100

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA:Universiti Malaya topped the list of fiveMalaysian universities thatwere ranked among the top 100 institutionsof higher learning in Asialast year. The ranking was provided byLondon-based QS Quacquarelli SymondsLtd, the compilers of the TimesHigher Education world universityrankings.
In the "Asian UniversityRankings" which was compiled for the firsttime, UM took the 39th spot,followed by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysiaat 51, Universiti SainsMalaysia at 69, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia,82 and Universiti PutraMalaysia, 90.
"Theresults of the QS.com Asian University Rankingsfocus on regionallyrelevant measures of excellence," said QS managingdirector NunzioQuacquarelli in an email yesterday.
He said the top performing universities distinguished themselves not only by quality, but also by high productivity of research.
"Malaysianuniversities have performed well, with high numbers ofinternationalstudents and faculty. These results make studying inMalaysia anattractive option for international students."
The top spot for the Asian university went to the University of Hong Kong.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong came in second, followed by University of Tokyo in third placing.
The National University of Singapore and Peking University in China are ranked at the 10th spot.

hehe.. ape yang korang meroyan pasal APEX ni? APEX ni satu program, USM dipilih bukan berdasarkan criteria ranking semata2, kalo ikut ranking dan KPI UM lagi bagus. Ape yang penting adalah perancangan sesebuah universiti untuk mendapat KPI universiti bertaraf dunia, dia ambil kira perancangan research, pembangunan sumber manusia, dan juga 'BUDGET'. kalo nak compare budget perancangan yang di proposed oleh USM jauh lebih rendah berbanding UM (tak silap aku around 850 juta) berbanding dengan UM yang jumlahnye sampai berbillion. kesemua 5 universiti yang bertanding ari tu mesti anta proposal, best proposal win.

UiTM status antara universiti cemerlang kat Malaysia ni? gila ke apa? nak memperbodohkan melayu sampai mcm tu sekali.. si VC brahim Abu Shah tu orang kuat AMENO,orang politik, bukan orang AKADEMIK, dulu PoK Lah datang UiTM .. perghhh dia punya kipas tak hingat.. orang nak solat jumaat pun kena tunggu PM yg tembel tu.. barua punya tukang kipas!!
