Pengambilan ubat pula bermula sehari dua kali bertambah hingga empat kali sehari.
Biasanya simptom Parkinson muncul dua tahun sebelum didiagnos. Tetapi pesakit hanya akan tahu dia diserang Parkinson apabila tangannya mula menggeletar dan pergerakannya lambat. Selain Michael J Fox, Parkinson turut menjadi masalah kepada bekas peninju Mohamad Ali dan pemimpin berbangsa Jerman Adolf Hitler.
Simptom
# Tangan terketar-ketar
# Masalah jangkitan paru-paru
# Selepas 10 tahun, 10 peratus pesakit akan jadi pelupa |

What is carpal tunnel syndrome?
Carpaltunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve, which runs from theforearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. Themedian nerve controls sensations to the palm side of the thumb andfingers (although not the little finger), as well as impulses to somesmall muscles in the hand that allow the fingers and thumb to move. Thecarpal tunnel - a narrow, rigid passageway of ligament and bones at thebase of the hand - houses the median nerve and tendons. Sometimes, thickening from irritated tendons or other swelling narrows the tunneland causes the median nerve to be compressed. The result may be pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, radiating up the arm.Although painful sensations may indicate other conditions, carpaltunnel syndrome is the most common and widely known of the entrapmentneuropathies in which the body's peripheral nerves are compressed ortraumatized.
What are the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome?
Symptomsusually start gradually, with frequent burning, tingling, or itchingnumbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumband the index and middle fingers. Some carpal tunnel sufferers saytheir fingers feel useless and swollen, even though little or noswelling is apparent. The symptoms often first appear in one or bothhands during the night, since many people sleep with flexed wrists. Aperson with carpal tunnel syndrome may wake up feeling the need to"shake out" the hand or wrist. As symptoms worsen, people might feeltingling during the day. Decreased grip strength may make it difficultto form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. Inchronic and/or untreated cases, the muscles at the base of the thumbmay waste away. Some people are unable to tell between hot and cold bytouch.
What are the causes of carpal tunnel syndrome?
Carpaltunnel syndrome is often the result of a combination of factors thatincrease pressure on the median nerve and tendons in the carpal tunnel, rather than a problem with the nerve itself. Most likely the disorderis due to a congenital predisposition - the carpal tunnel is simplysmaller in some people than in others. Other contributing factorsinclude trauma or injury to the wrist that cause swelling, such assprain or fracture; overactivity of the pituitary gland;hypothyroidism; rheumatoid arthritis; mechanical problems in the wristjoint; work stress; repeated use of vibrating hand tools; fluidretention during pregnancy or menopause; or the development of a cystor tumor in the canal. In some cases no cause can be identified.
Thereis little clinical data to prove whether repetitive and forcefulmovements of the hand and wrist during work or leisure activities cancause carpal tunnel syndrome. Repeated motions performed in the courseof normal work or other daily activities can result in repetitivemotion disorders such as bursitis and tendonitis. Writer's cramp - acondition in which a lack of fine motor skill coordination and ache andpressure in the fingers, wrist, or forearm is brought on by repetitiveactivity - is not a symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome. |

ni kalau pasal thyroid...
Hyperthyroidism can be suspected in patients with tremors, excessive sweating, smooth, velvety skin, fine hair, a rapid heart rate and an enlarged thyroid gland. There may be puffiness around the eyes and a characteristic stare due to the elevation of the upper eyelids. Advanced symptoms are easily detected, but early symptoms, especially in the elderly, may be quite inconspicuous. In all cases, a blood test is needed to confirm the diagnosis.
The blood levels of thyroid hormones can be measured directly and usually are elevated with hyperthyroidism. However, the main tool for detection of hyperthyroidism is measurement of the blood TSH level. As mentioned earlier, TSH is secreted by the pituitary gland. If an excess amount of thyroid hormone is present, TSH is "down-regulated" and the level of TSH falls in an attempt to reduce production of thyroid hormone. Thus, the measurement of TSH should result in low or undetectable levels in cases of hyperthyroidism. However, there is one exception. If the excessive amount of thyroid hormone is due to a TSH-secreting pituitary tumor, then the levels of TSH will be abnormally high. This uncommon disease is known as "secondary hyperthyroidism."
Although the blood tests mentioned previously can confirm the presence of excessive thyroid hormone, they do not point to a specific cause. If there is obvious involvement of the eyes, a diagnosis of Graves' disease is almost certain. A combination of antibody screening (for Graves' disease) and a thyroid scan using radioactively-labelled iodine (which concentrates in the thyroid gland) can help diagnose the underlying thyroid disease. These investigations are chosen on a case-by-case basis
