Mariah Carey secretly marries rapper boyfriend Nick Cannon
POP diva MariahCarey has secretly married her boyfriend, American rapper and actorNick Cannon, after a whirlwind romance, according to US reports.
The New York Post has reported that Carey and Cannon held a secret ceremony at the singer's home in the Bahamas.
It quoted a source close the record-breaking singer as saying, "Theyhave been smitten with each other for days, weeks," the friend said."And she's always had a crush on him."
The couple set rumours ofan engagement flying a few days ago at the Tribeca Film Festival, whereCarey was seen arm-in-arm with the actor, and sporting a massivediamond ring on her engagement finger.
The singer was previously married to music executive Tommy Mottola,a high-powered mogul who kick-started Carey's career nearly 20 yearsago after listening to a demo tape she pressed into his hand.
The couple married in 1993, but were divorced five years later.Carey's career has remained in the stratosphere, with her record salesputting her alongside the Beatles and ahead of Elvis Presley in therecord books. Her most recent single, Touch My Body, was her 18th number one single, and her latest album, E=MC2, also debuted at No. 1 on the charts.
Careywas recently quoted as saying that she was fine with not havingchildren, and that her ego was smaller than even that of her own dog.
Her new husband Nick Cannon made his television debut on Nickelodeon's All That. He has had a few film parts, but remained mostly on US television.
Hislast serious romance was with Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks.Cannon proposed to Ebanks, by way of the massive advertising hoardingon Times Square in New York. The couple broke up five months later.

May 1, 2008 (Sawf News) - A family member, Linda Cannon, confirmed Thursday, May 1, that singer Mariah Carey had married MTV star Nick Cannon.
"Yes, we know," Linda told E! "He called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him."
According to press reports, the two married at Mariah's home in Eleuthera, the Bahamas, on Wednesday, April 30, in the presence of a few friends. The ceremony was described as "very impulsive."
However, Linda was not ready to go into details.
"I'm not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him," she said.
Mariah was recently seen wearing a large rock on her ring finger. A rep for jeweler Jacob & Co confirmed to E! that Nick paid $2.5 million for the 17-carat ring that has a 10 carat square, emerald-cut fancy light-pink diamond as the center stone.
Mariah, 39, split from her first husband, Tommy Mottola, in 1998, after five years of marriage.
Cannon was engaged to Victoria's Secret angel Selita Ebanks on May 7, 2007 when he got down on one knee in Times Square and presented Ebanks with a 12-carat diamond ring while the words "Selita, will you marry me?" were projected on the MTV Jumbotron.
They broke their engagement in October saying they needed to focus on their careers.
