Steroid prescription...please share your experience..

 Hello friends...
Just wanna share this, i was admitted to the hospital recently for few days...major allergy...satu badan naik rash teruk..
So, dr prescribe steroid for me..
and the allergy tu dah show good progress, alhamdulillah...
tp side effct of the steroid ni banyak..antara yg i dapat (still ada coz masih ambik steroid ni, tp less dose la now) :
1) moon face syndrome (muka jd kembang)...
2) acne (face & belakang badan)...
3) appetite naik sgt2, mkn mcm monster skrg...but somehow that's good for me coz i've been trying to gain weight before tp cuma skrg nampak progress..
tp bnyk lagi side effect yg i baca..tp i pun tak sure whether i ada ke tak...contoh : feeling depressed, mood swing...
and kdg2 ada rasa pening & mcm melayang...
So, if ada sesiapa yg pernah ambik steroid (utk tujuan perubatan ye )..plz share ur experience here...
eg : side effect, kesan after dah stop ambik or any other related matters.... |

oh ..u ambik steroid ek ...sy pernh gakss ...tp tuk hidung ler ...ambik butacort ...n rasanyer x seteruk maner ..sb jrg pkai pun ..hehe ...side effect aderlah skit2 .fening , nk munth ..kekek ...tp abaikan ..once stop insya4JJ1 xd aper2 .....memg ubt yg ader drug quit byk dier punyer side effects ...  |

pnah mkn n result berat badan naik
da ler start mkn masa kecik lagi
coz ada eczema problem
n mostly doctor suh mkn tuh
tp mkn dlm masa pendek jer
tak leh lama ......
skrg nie bdn mmg berisi
n ntah aaaaa takleh turun
cuma control supaya tak jd terover sesgt
my aunt pun mkn coz belakang dia sakit
doktor bg n suh mkn
result ........ bdn cam kene pam2 .....
ubat nie bagus tp bahaya
coz kita takleh control nafsu mkn
tak caya cuba ler .......

Memang dah percaya ni, sbb appetite i mmg naik menjadi jadi...
Tp doktor kata, once dah stop mkn, appettite akan back to normal, so skrg smntara masih ambik steroid ni, doktor pesan suruh make sure mkn yg sihat & exercise...

jgn bimbang... steroid yg doc bagi tu just about 2%...
itu untuk tahan sakit and tak akan ganggu buah pinggang U..
kalau doc bagi general anestatic or pain killer.. ur kidney boleh rosak...
untuk sementara U have to do so..
ade doc bagi specific VIT tak..?? |

I takdelah naik badan skrg ni...cuma moon face je..tp dr kata akan surut once i stop... |

Side effects yang you mention tu if abuse steroid & long-term usage. For your case I'm sure dr will cut down the dose and eventually stop completely once your symptoms have disappeared. Make sure you don't expose yourself to the allergy triggers.
Steroid is a necessary evil especially in allergy & asthma cases. |

Really? I harap sgt wont do too much "damage" on my body esp my appearance...
Tahun depan nak naik pelamin, insya Allah...tak nak la hilang shape
I was bitten by leech...terus allergy satu badan, mcm eczema, dr kata 2nd counter dgn leech might give worse effect..
so, no more jungl;e trekking for me!!!!
This sat is my next appointment with dr. Hopefully dia boleh lessen the dosage la.. |

steroid for short courses eg < 2 weeks selalunya side effects tak melebihi benefit..
so kalau kene ambik dalam masa yg panjang.. baru ada side effects yg macam moon face etc..
How long were you on steroids? What was the dose? |

I was admitted on 24th Oct...when i was warded tu it was steroid injection..
Now, yg tablet punya.. i tak sure la dose nya...
muka i jd kembang 1 week after discharge then masa pegi follow up, dr kata mmg side effect of ubat tu and should be gone some time after i stop ambik nanti...
Mmg moon face, semua org tegur, muka i jenis pjg, now mmg bulat |

you now masih makan lagi steroid since 24th Oct?..
selalunya kalau simple allergic reaction yang tak ada ulser dalam mulut.. / blister kat kulit.. paling lama pun seminggu aja on steroids....
Another advice.. apa2 ubat yg kita makan .. tak leh take for granted.. mesti TAHU dose dan namanya...sebab yang makan tu kita.. kalau doc tak kasi tahu.. kita ada hak untuk tahu dan tanya.. i perasan orang malaysia ni tak berapa aggressive nak ambil tahu ttg dose dan jenis ubat yg docs kasi.. |

Yup, still on steroid but less dosage...
My mistake for not knowing the name & the dose, tp honestly, mcm down sgt...my skin fair, so bila naik rash teruk (mcm chicken pox) whole body, i jd down coz i jd so ugly...and just didnt care of anything, coz masa tu dah bnyk kali jumpa dr tp tak improve, so bila i try DEMC (last option kononya), i mcm tak brp yakin, tp alhamdulillah bnyk dah improve...
Before this i mmg yg health concious jugak, tp sejak sakit ironically i jd mcm give up...Tp dah bnyk improve ni, alhamdulillah....nak focus utk scar pulak...
Ok, esok i ada follow up dgn dr...i tanya dia the name & dose u..

penah msk paper last year ada pompuan nih beli steroid pill online kenkonon utk ubatkan diri sendri....mkn lama sgt n lebeih dose...last buterrrr.... |

Cuba amalkan evening primrose oil...mungkin boleh bantu kes2 kronik allergic ni. |

I mmg plan nak start ambik EPO ni...ramai yg kata elok kan?

I've stopped the steroid already...
And i realise my moonface pun dah makin kurang...
Makan pun dah tak mcm monster
Hope i'm going back back to my normal self soon...to all who has given opinion here, thank you so much... |
