saya ada yg s1, beli dalam usd399, 2 tahun yg lalu. so far gambar dia amat bagus, video pun ok. cuma kuat makan bateri.

aku baru minggu lepas hampir2 beli Canon S5IS ni jugak. Di Kuching harga dia (retail) is RM1699. Aku antara nak angkat S5IS atau A650IS (RM1499) atau A720IS (RM1099). Harga S5IS itu adalah maximum harga yang aku budget utk beli kamera masa tuh. Lebih mahal dari tu, aku tak sanggup dah.. kemudian ada beberapa brand lain aku list kan...
akhirnya aku jumpa Olympus SP550UZ (salah satu kamera brand selain Canon dalam list aku), lepas fikir2 aku beli Olympus SP550UZ... sebab aku suka zoom nya yang jauh itu...
kalau tak memang aku ambil Canon S5IS tuh, sebab bnyk review aku tengok... memang bagus2 komen nya.

aku pakai S5IS tapi baru je 3 minggu pakai & masih mendalami user guide kamera ni.. setakat ni, memang puas hati le..
+ manual kontrol senang diaccess.. senang kontrol apperture/shutter/ISO/focus
+ ade hotshoe untuk external flash.. bleh le pakai speedlite 430EX..
+ kalo pakai bateri 2300mAH (full charge), bleh tembak +- 400 gambar
+ harga RM1699... tapi aku beli time fotokem warehouse sale, dapat RM1529 + free gift... bleh tunggu pcfair, dengarnya dalam RM1500+gift.
+ takde le besar sangat.. ringan & sedap tangan memegang..
+ screen lcd boleh digerakkan ikut suka.. buat self potrait pun boleh
- noise tinggi start dari ISO400 ... tapi semua prosumer camtu... kalo nak cantik, DSLR je le jawapannye
- takde RAW support |

canon model S siries IS ni memang power giler...
yang S1IS 3.2MP pun hasilnya beratus kali baik dari kebanyakan kamera yang 5MP ke atas...
Inikan pulak S5IS 8MP tentulah terlebih-lebih lagi powernya.., video pun boleh rakam 30fps
Aku ada beberapa kamera digital, ada yang melebihi 8MP, tapi tak sama dengan hasil yang aku dapat dari S1IS aku.. jadio siapa yg beli S5IS memang berlaloi...

aku pon pakai kemera ni gak s51s.. tak sampai 2 bulan lagi... belom abes belajar lagi.. masa nak beli tu, memang cam tatau nak pilih canon ke olympus sebab olympus lebih zoom siket kan... tapi canon ni flexible.. leh amek dari sudut2 yang sukar.. sebab dia punya skrin tu leh terbalik2 kan...kira nak amek gambar sendiri pon senang.. |

Digital cameras have powers beyond what is immediately available tothe user. On a standard Canon, for example, the fastest shutter speedoption offered is 1/1,600 second, but the hardware can handle much morethan that -- up to 1/60,000 of a second.
CHDK, the Canon Hacker's Development Kit, is an open-sourcesoftware project that can be loaded on cameras using Canon's DIGIC IIor DIGIC III firmware platforms. It unleashes new features includingRAW file format, live histogram display, a battery readout, and theability to run scripted actions on a camera.
CHDK does not replace the existing firmware on your Canon, sothe process is completely reversible. The existing firmware staysintact, while the CHDK software is loaded on demand from an SD card.
What You'll Need- A compatible camera (see a list)
- An SD memory card
- An SD card reader (but see possible workarounds below)
How To Install It
It's best to start with a blank SD card, so if there are pictures on your card, remove them.
There are numerous incarnations of the CHDK software,different builds incorporating different features. If you don't have aparticularly rare camera or unusual needs, the best build to start withis probably Allbest, a good all-purpose build that incorporates a majority of features.
Determine which camera model you own, by looking at the modelnumber on the camera. Download onto your computer the appropriatepackage for your camera, from this site.
Tip: Note that the "Ixus" designation is European: whatAmericans call the Canon SD800, Europeans call the Ixus 850. Thefilename of the firmware should include both names, e.g.allbest-ixus850_sd800-100e-49.zip.
Also download the "english.lng" language file.
Unzip the zip file. It should contain two files, DISKBOOT.BINand PS.FIR. Put your SD card in your card reader and copy those files,plus english.lng, to the topmost directory on your card.
Card readers are cheap and handy, but if you don't have onethere may be a workaround for you. A Treo or Palm with an SD slot canbe made to act like a card reader with Card Export software. Or you can try uploader software, which is designed to allow direct installation from PC to camera without ever removing the card from the camera.
Once you've put those files on your card, put the card back in the camera.
How To Use It
Switch the camera into View (not Shoot) mode, and turn it on. Whenyou press the Menu button, you should notice a new menu option: FirmUpdate. Select this option (remember, it's non-destructive) and theCHDK software will be loaded on your camera, which should rebootitself. Immediately, you'll see a display of battery percentage andstorage remaining.
The extra features can be accessed and configured via "Altmode," an alternate mode into which you toggle by pressing a particularkey. On the SD700, it's the Print key; it may be different on yourcamera. It should be configurable in the Alt menu.
You can tell you're in Alt mode when there's a little <ALT> displayed at the bottom of the screen.
After entering Alt mode, press the Menu key to bring up themenu. This reveals all sorts of options: customizing the on-screendisplay (called the "OSD"), playing games, you name it. Use thecamera's directional keys to navigate the menu.
Play AroundYour camera is now set up to take all kinds of fancy photos. You cando Edgerton-style high-speed photography, or low-light high-ISO tricks,or script complex actions. The CHDK wiki includes lots of tips and tutorials and user-written scripts. Here are some of our favorites:
- Unlimited Interval Shooting -- Use your camera for surveillance, or use it to shoot at precise intervals during a lunar eclipse or meteor shower.
- High-Speed Shutter-- Use this override option in the AllBest firmware to explore life'slittler moments. You can also override the camera's slowest shutterspeed settings to shoot exposures of a minute or longer.
- Take multiple long exposure shots all night, then assemble the shots into your own time lapse videos.
Set CHDK as Your Default
At this point, CHDK is only loaded manually when you select FirmUpdate as you did above. When you shut the camera off, it'll be gone(although your configuration options are stored in a config file onyour card). If you want to have it load automatically every time youturn on the camera, follow these steps.
1. Go to Debug Parameters in the Alt menu, and select "Make card bootable."
2. Turn off the camera, remove the card, and switch its manualswitch to Lock position. If your card doesn't lock, you can't auto-bootCHDK, sorry.
3. Put the card back in. Now CHDK will load automatically whenever you turn on the camera. Unlock the card to disable this.
