"Spider-Man 3" to Swing Into Malaysia before US By Pamela June [table=150]

8 Mar - "Spider-Man 3" is swinging into Malaysian cinemas two days before its US release.

Local fans of Spidey can now have the chance to catch him before their counterparts in the United States. While the worldwide release is from 1st to 4th of May, Malaysia has chosen 2 May to be the date for Spidey to swing into our cinemas.

When contacted, Sony Pictures, the distributor of the movie, confirmed this release date for Malaysian cinemas. "With Wesak Day and Labour Day around that time, we decided to release it on the 2nd," a Sony spokesperson added.

In this sequel, Peter Parker is shown to have found a balance between his normal life and that of Spider-Man. However, a mysterious substance has changed his suit into black, bringing forth a darker side to Parker and Spidey. Will he be able to fight it? And also, will he be able to fight the Sandman and Venom, the two new villains who are out to destroy the superhero?

Incidentally, the first Asean country to release this sequel is Japan

Malaysians will get to see "Spider-Man 3" early By Pamela June 29 Mar - "Spider-Man 3" has decided to swing into Malaysian cinemas earlier than as previously planned. In an earlier Cinema Online report, it was stated that Spidey would be here on 2 May 2007. However, when contacted, "Spider-Man 3" distributor, Sony Pictures confirmed that they will bringing forward the release date to coincide with its world wide release, and that is on the first day of May. Spidey's worldwide release period is from 1st till the 4th of May. This means Malaysia will get to see Spidey on the same day as many other people elsewhere. Sony Pictures added that this decision was made in conjunction with the Labours' Day and Wesak Day holidays, which falls on the first two days of May. Malaysia will now be the few countries to release this sequel, along with Japan, on 1st May 2007, followed Philippines on the 2nd of May. Cinema Online, 29 March 2007
