Viking metal

Viking Metal is a cross-genre reference usually used to describe the lyrical and thematic elements of bands rather than the music itself. The bands that are associated with Viking Metal cover a broad range of musical genres and influences, such as Folk Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, and in some cases Power Metal.
The origin of Viking Metal can be traced to the Swedish Metal band Bathory, with the release of their third album in 1988, entitled Blood Fire Death. The album blended the aesthetics of Black Metal, with an atmosphere rich in imagery of War and Norse Mythology. Quorthon (The mastermind of Bathory) explains some of the philosophy behind the musical and lyrical changes from Black Metal to “Viking Metal” in Bathory for the official website [1].
Bathory would continue on to innovate the genre further with their next release in 1990, entitled Hammerheart. The album further explored the romantic elements of the previous album, and experimented with Scandinavian folk instruments and musical form. Along with Skyclad’s “The Wayward Sons of Mother Earth”, Hammerheart helped form the metal subgenre Folk Metal. The album is regarded by many as an important and influential release in Viking Metal’s history.
While Viking Metal can not technically be categorized as a specific sub-genre with unique musical aspects, it does share similar themes and values. Common among all “Viking Metal” is a reverence for Pagan Germanic, or “Viking” culture, as well as a rejection of contemporary Christianity, and disdain of the Christianization of Northern Europe in favor of a pre-Christian, Pagan world. kebanyakan band power metal nie m'dpt ilham/ inspirasi drp keagamaan (cth: rage ngan tajuk lagu 'destination day'), fantasi (cth: avantasia, bilnd guardian), mitos (angra), science fiction n kekdg pasal propaganda dunia (cth: gamma ray dlm album 'no world order', psl propaganda illuminati).
power metal buleh dikategorikan antara metal terbaik dari segi liriknya.
penyanyi dlm genre power metal nie kebykan nyer 'clean voice' n kebykan penyanyi nyer adlh well-trained singer (cth: timo kotipelto)...
Power metal guitarists and bassists generally play rapid streams of notes, but change chords comparatively slowly, with a harmonic tempo of once per measure or slower. Fast and demanding guitar solos, however, are almost guaranteed.
Power metal drummers generally play with two bass drums for added speed, often playing a constant stream of sixteenth notes with snare drum accents on the beat. Some bands defy this formula, but it is surprisingly universal.
Many bands also play with a keyboardist, but keyboards are not generally a musical focus.

Tech metal is a subgenre of heavy metal/death metal. Sometimes known as math metal, though this term is usually characterised by a greater emphasis on odd time signatures than on technical riffs. Tech metal is characterised by a show of skill, changeable time signatures, and often dissonant or atonal guitar riffs. Death metal and grindcore elements are often found in tech metal. The creation of "technical death metal" started in the late 80's/early 90's when death metal bands started writing more complex song structures with an increasing number of more drastic time signatures and tempo changes. This early implementation can be heard somewhat in early Morbid Angel albums, then later on in bands such as Suffocation, Monstrosity, and Vital Remains, and eventually to the mid-90's where it solidified as stable subgenre of death metal. Some bands employ elements of jazz into their music. Math metal is a sub-genre of tech metal. Generally these bands incorporate unorthodox rhythms and unorthodox time signatures in order to create complex pieces of music. Math metal often makes use of polyrhythm and hemiola, two rhythmic phenomena in music, to achieve its complexity.
