KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded five new Delta Covid-19 cases, according to data from Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah issued yesterday.
The five cases were among 265 new Delta cases detected throughout the nation between Aug 16 and 29 in the latest update.
Sarawak registered the most new Delta cases at 178, followed by Penang (31), Pahang (19), Selangor (11), Negeri Sembilan (eight), Perak (three), Johore (three), Kuala Lumpur (three), Malacca (two), Kedah (one) and Perlis (one).
This development brought Sabah’s total Delta cases to nine while its Alpha cases remained at three and Beta stayed at four. Like Delta, Alpha and Beta are Covid-19 variants of concern (VOC).
There are now 1,221 VOC and variant-of-interest (VOI) cases cases altogether total in Malaysia.
