Ivermectin to prevent covid-19 transmission

Ivermectin is an inhibitor of the covid-19causative virus (SARS-CoV-2)in vitro.

The antiparasitic drug ivermectin “hasa miraculous effectiveness that obliterates” the transmission of covid-19 andwill prevent people from getting sick. Ivermectin is currently beinginvestigated as a treatment for coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which is the virusthat causes COVID-19. The trials so far have shown ivermectin reduces thenumber of cell-associated viral DNA by 99.8 % in 24 hours. Further studies areneeded to determine the effectiveness of this medicine in humans with COVID-19.

The NIH currently recommendsagainst using ivermectin for COVID-19. This is because in vitro studiessuggest that the dose required to be effective is 100 times higher than what issafe for human use.
