2/3 of world's volcanoes are located in the Pacific Ring of Fire = New Zealand, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan to Kamchatka on the western side of the Pacific Ocean, west coast of North & South Americas. |

Pacific Ring of Fire tu terletak kat sekeliling Plat Pasifik, so negara-negara cam Jepun ngan Filipina tu banyak la gunung berapi...
Pasal gunung lipat tua ngan gunung lipat muda tu, kalau gunung lipat tu mengalami proses lipatan yang dah lama sangat dulu and then sekarang tak lagi, tu la dier gunung lipat tua, contohnya Banjaran Appalachian kat Amerika ngan Banjaran Titiwangsa. Gunung lipat muda lat sentiasa mengalami proses lipatan sebab terlepat kat sempadan plat bumi, contohnya Banjaran Himalaya. |

kalau tak silap laa kan...letusan gunung berapi nih terjadik becoz of pergerakkan bumi.
aku ingat2 lupa pasal geog nih...kalau tak silap..larva akan membentuk umm pulau2 baru contohnya macam kat hawaii... melalui letusan gunung berapi..larva akan di bawa ke laut...
tanah gunung berapi nih pun subur jugak..sebab contains byk nutriens utk pokok2.. |

About 550 volcanoes have erupted on Earth's surface since recorded history; about 60 are active each year. Far more have erupted unobserved on the ocean floor. Most volcanoes exist at the boundaries of Earth's crustal plates, such as the famous Ring of Fire that surrounds the Pacific Ocean plate. Fifty volcanoes have erupted in the United States since recorded history, and the United States ranks third, behind Indonesia and Japan, in the number of historically active volcanoes. |

...
Nature of activity:
Active
+ it erupts frequently &
in recent times
Dormant
+ eruptions are infrequent
Extinct
+ does not erupt anymore or
has not erupted in historic times
====
Nature of materials:
Ash & Cinder Cone
+ steep-sided conical volcano formed
from ash & cinder
+ Eg Paricutin in Mexico
Lava Cone
+ shape of the volcano depends on
the viscosity of lava
+ Basic lava (shield volcanoes)
- gentle sloping volcanoes
- lava is fluid & solidify slowly
- Eg Mauna Loa in Hawaii
+ Acid lava (dome volcano)
- steep convex sides
- lava is viscous & solidify quickly
- Eg Mt Pelee in West Indies |
