ALOR SETAR – Bapa kepada gadis berusia 16 tahun yang didakwa melanggar seorang penunggang motosikal berusia 65 tahun sehingga maut merayu permohonan maaf daripada keluarga mangsa.
Lelaki berusia 59 tahun dari Kuala Nerang itu berkata, beliau faham sukar bagi keluarga mangsa untuk menerima berita kematian ini.
Bagaimanapun, beliau tetap berharap mereka dapat memaafkan anak perempuannya.
“Ia satu kesalahan besar. Semuanya sudah takdir. Saya berharap keluarga mangsa dapat memaafkan anak perempuan saya,” katanya, Sabtu.
Lelaki itu yang tidak mahu dikenali berkata, beliau tidak tahu mengapa anak perempuannya mengambil keputusan untuk memandu kereta pada hari tersebut.
“Sebelum ini dia tidak memandu kereta dan saya benar-benar tak tahu apa yang membuatkannya bertindak sedemikian.
“Saya tahu tarikh 24 Mac 2017 akan menjadi tarikh yang anak saya akan ingat sampai bila-bila.
“Kejadian ini akan sentiasa menghantui dirinya,” katanya.
Penunggang motosikal, Lijah Mat Hashim meninggal dunia dalam kemalangan yang berlaku di Kampung Musa di Kuala Nerang dekat sini pada pukul 5 petang Jumaat.
Lijah yang bekerja sebagai penoreh getah, meninggalkan suami Abdul Wahab Junus, 65, dan enam anak berusia antara 21 dan 46 tahun.
Polis berkata, remaja itu, yang memandu tanpa lesen, gagal menekan brek dan merempuh motosikal Lijah yang sedang keluar dari lorong dan cuba untuk menyeberang jalan.
Gadis itu hilang kawalan keretanya dan terjatuh ke dalam parit.
Pemandu dan seorang penumpang wanita, juga berusia 16 tahun mengalami cedera ringan.
Lelaki itu berkata beliau masih tidak mendapat maklumat daripada anak perempuannya kerana anaknya itu masih trauma.
“Dia sekarang ada di rumah, tetapi kami tak dapat bertanya apa-apa kerana keadaannya.
“Saya baru balik kursus haji ketika itu dan berita ini diberitahu oleh seorang kawan.
“Apabila saya sampai di tempat kejadian, saya seolah-olah tak percaya apabila melihat melihat kereta saya dalam parit dan dikelilingi anggota bomba.
“Saya juga melihat ambulans membawa mangsa ke hospital,” katanya, sambil menambah anak perempuan dan rakannya telah dibawa ke hospital sebelum beliau tiba.
Tambahnya, beliau telah bertemu ahli keluarga Lijah semasa upacara pengebumian di tanah perkuburan Islam Kampung Musa di Padang Terap pada 11 pagi Sabtu.
Abdul Wahab, seorang petani, berkata bapa gadis itu telah meminta maaf daripadanya.
“Kami tak dapat kata apa-apa pada masa ini.
“Isteri saya telah meninggalkan kami dan dia hilang selama-lamanya.
“Berilah masa untuk kami meringankan kesedihan dulu,” katanya ketika ditemui di rumahnya, yang terletak kira-kira 100 meter dari tempat kejadian. – mStar Online
ALOR SETAR: The father of the 16-year-old driver who allegedly rammed into a 65-year-old motorcyclist and killed her on the spot has asked the victim’s family for forgiveness.
The 59-year-old man from Kuala Nerang said he understood that it would be difficult for the family to accept the circumstances of her death, but hoped that they would forgive his daughter.
“It was a grievous mistake. What happened cannot be undone. I sincerely hope that the victim’s family can forgive my daughter,” he said yesterday.
The man, who did not want to be named, said he did not know why his daughter decided to drive his car that day.
“She has not driven the car before and I really don’t know what made her do it.
“March 24, 2017 will be a date that I know my daughter will never forget.
“This incident will haunt her forever,” he said.
Motorcyclist Lijah Mat Hashim died in the accident which occurred at Kampung Musa in Kuala Nerang near here at 5pm on Friday.
Lijah, a rubber tapper, left behind husband Abdul Wahab Junus, 65, and six children aged between 21 and 46.
Police said the teenager, who drove without a licence, failed to brake in time and rammed into Lijah’s motorcycle when she came out from a lane and tried to cross the road.
The girl lost control of her car and landed in a ditch.
Both she and a female passenger, also aged 16, sustained light injuries.
The man said he was still unable to get information from his daughter as she was still traumatised.
“She is back home now, but we are unable to question her due to her condition.
“I had just finished my haj course and was heading home when I was told about it by a friend.
“When I reached the scene, I could not believe my eyes when I saw the car in the ditch and firemen surrounding it.
“I also saw the ambulance taking the victim to hospital,” he said, adding that his daughter and her friend were taken to the hospital just before he arrived.
He said that he had met Lijah’s family members during her funeral at the Kampung Musa Muslim bu--rial ground in Padang Terap at 11am yesterday.
Abdul Wahab, a farmer, said the girl’s father had asked for forgiveness from him.
“But, we will come to that later.
“My wife has left us and she is gone forever.
“Let us have some time to ease our sadness,” he said yesterday at his home, which is located about 100m away from the scene of the accident.
Unlicenced 16-year-old driving car rams into and kills senior citizen on motorcycle
ALOR SETAR: A 16-year-old girl who was driving a car without a licence has allegedly rammed into a motorcycle near here, killing its 65-year-old rider.
Padang Terap district police chief Dep Supt Ahmad Nasir Jaafar said that the accident took place at about 5pm on Friday.
DSP Ahmad said that the car collided with the motorcycle just after it came out from a lane as it was trying to cross the road.
"The driver failed to brake in time and rammed into the bike, killing the 65-year-old woman on the spot. The car landed in a ditch," he said, adding that the motorcycle and rider were dragged along the road for about 21m.
He said the accident took place at Kampung Musa in Kuala Nerang on Friday.
DSP Ahmad said that the driver and her friend, also 16, escaped with light injuries.
The deceased, who was identified as Lijah Mat Hashim, died on the spot.
"The death was confirmed by the medical team at the scene. Our initial investigations show that the driver of the car did not have a licence," he said.
DSP Ahmad added no police report had been lodged on the incident as at 11pm Friday.
