On April 22nd, Sungkyunkwan Scandal DVD Box 1 will be released containing the love story of historical youth. It has been confirmed that the DVD Box 2 will contain a special DVD.
The Korean drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” takes place in a prestigious university named “Sungkyunkwan” for the elites during the Chosen period. Love and friendship between the students, this drama depicts the colours of youth, and revolves around a young love story. This drama received great popularity as it was viewed all over Korea. It was the most searched keyword on the internet and it had become a social phenomenon. Starring Yoochun for the first time, he acted along side Song Jung Ki, Yoo Ah In, and others. The main cast of this drama won this large explosive popularity.
This time, a special DVD will be included in the DVD Box 2 which will include interviews from the 4 main leads (Yoochun, Jung Ki, Yoo Ah In, Park Min Yeong), and also the video recording of the actors in this drama wining awards (Yoochun received 3 awards) during 2010 KBS Drama Awards. During this award ceremony, JYJ’s Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu sang the soundtrack of this drama “Chajatta”. This was their first time singing on stage on a local show and it became quite a topic. This stage performance is also a bonus feature of this special DVD.
Also, NG scenes will also be included and other recordings that occurred during the shooting. You’ll also be able to see Yoochun’s face as a actor for the first time, and glimpse his behavior. Song Jung Ki also speaks in his interview about his first kiss and other experiences he has had.
Song Joongki Reveals the Preparations he Made for Sungkyunkwan Scandal
The actor, who gained even more more popularity and love from the general public after appearing in the drama, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, spilled to the Japanese press in an interview, all the preparations that he went through, in order to portray his role well.
The interview took place last March 27 at the Renaissance Hotel in Yeoksamdong, Seoul; where the idol openly and honestly talked about how he prepared for the aforesaid drama, in order to show a good drama to the viewers, as well as his improving acting in every production that he participates. “When I first received the script, I felt bad because the character that I would play was of little importance. But I put even more effort in studying the character and making a push to increase his presence in the drama,” said the actor.
He played the role of Gu Yongha, or simply, Yeo Rim, the cassanova among the ‘Jalgeum Quartet’, which consists of Park Yoochun, Yoo Ahin, Park Minyoung and himself. To his character, the actor said, “I thought that he had to be very showy. His various charming costumes and his pretty appearance were all the means to express his internal psychology to hide his complexes. I tried very hard to keep his splendid appearance by wearing various accessories that I usually did not wear, and by putting on many different clothes in the drama.”
He further continued,
At first when I looked at the script, I felt bad as the character had little importance in the drama. Some people even told me that I should quit. But I could not give up the character because the role that I would play looked so fresh to me. So I studied harder to play the character because I wanted to show off his important presence in the drama. I actually studied the mischievous and deceitful character Jeon Woochi played by actor Kang Dongwon, the character that actor Lee Yeonkeol played in the movie Swordsman, and the unsteady gait of actor Johnny Depp in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean.
Song Joongki also expressed his disappointment when he learned that his role in the drama didn’t have a love interest. To this, he remarked,
“I felt bad again that his role was the sole character who did not have any romance in the drama among the four main characters, but I gave up about romance and only tried to focus on the character Yeo Rim alone. I chose a romantic comedy for my next work. If we film the second season of the drama, I think that filming it as a movie might be a better idea because a movie has less limitation in expressing the details. And I also want that Yongha has a romance in the second season.”
The young and handsome actor also revealed his desire to appear in different roles which will require a lot of work to challenge by saying,
“I came to have more interest in acting itself by playing the character Gu Yongha, and I came to make various choices in choosing the work that I want to appear in, which makes me really happy. I will try not to forget my first intention. But I do not like any typical character. I want to appear in any work in which I have to consider many things while acting. I like the movie A Dirty Carnival in which actor Jo Insung appeared, and I want to appear in a noir film that deals with agonies related to identity and introspection.”
And because of the recent catastrophe that hit Japan, he also sent out his thoughts not just to the victims, but to everyone in the world and said,
“The natural disaster that happened in Japan is not only a problem of Japan, but a problem of everyone around the world. I feel really sad. I believe that there will be a rainbow after the rain, and I hope for its quick recovery.”
