NASRI COMPLETES GUNNERS MOVE

Arsene Wenger is in no doubt midfielder Samir Nasri will make a "quality" addition to the Arsenal squad.

The Gunners finally completed what has been a protracted transfer of the 21-year-old from Marseille on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Wenger - who could now allow unsettled Belorussian winger Alexander Hleb to leave - feels the youngster has a "great potential" which can be fulfilled at Emirates Stadium.

"He is young, quick and technically an outstanding player," said Wenger, who also signed Wales teenager Aaron Ramsey earlier in the summer.

"Samir has shown great potential with his performances for Marseille and the French national team over the past two seasons and he will add great quality to our squad."

Nasri made two appearances for France at Euro 2008 and had announced last month, somewhat prematurely, that the deal had been completed.

However, with all the relevant documents now processed, and the fee reported to be in the region of

As well as resolving Hleb's situation, Wenger will also want the future of Adebayor to be confirmed before the Gunners' start their pre-season schedule in earnest.

Portugal Under-21 international Amaury Bischoff, who has been released by German side Werder Bremen, is said to be on Wenger's radar, along with Newcastle front man Obafemi Martins and Blackburn's Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz, both rated around

Shay Given has committed his future to Newcastle amid speculation he is wanted by Arsenal.

The 32-year-old Irishman insists he is happy at St James' Park 10 years after his arrival and is focussing only on the club's drive to establish themselves back among the Premier League's elite.

Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of the Lifford-born goalkeeper and is understood to have identified him as a possible target.

However, Given claims he has heard nothing and is concentrating on the task of regaining full fitness after the groin surgery which allowed Steve Harper to establish himself in the side at the end of last season.

The Republic of Ireland international said: "I don't know where the story came from.

Gunners drop Adebayor fee

Emmanuel Adebayor is a step closer to the San Siro after Arsenal dropped their asking price, according to the player's agent.

The Rossoneri have long been linked to the 24-year-old but reportedly balked at the hefty transfer fee which Arsenal slapped on his head

However, Vincenzo Morabito claims that the Gunners have now almost halved the price tag, claiming: "We're arriving at more reasonable figures."

"We're working to make the deal easier," Morabito told Italian television channel Antenna3. "The signs are very positive.

"It's still a lot, but a lot less than the US$72 million that were initially asked for. A bit more than half.

"More than that of (Samuel) Eto'o and (Didier) Drogba but they are a little bit older."

Milan call off Adebayor chase

Adriano Galliani says AC Milan have put a move for Emmanuel Adebayor on hold amid reports the club are close to signing Ronaldinho.

Arsenal striker Adebayor has been a leading target for Milan, with Barcelona also having shown an interest in the Togo international.

Milan vice-president Galliani has consistently stated that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's valuation of Adebayor is too high.

And Galliani has now suggested the Italian giants will end their interest in bringing Adebayor to the San Siro.

"We've stopped dealing with Arsene Wenger and have to reconfirm that up to now Milan has above all important sacrifices to make in negotiations with its current players, starting with Kaka," Galliani told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper also claims that Milan are on the brink of finalising a deal to sign Ronaldinho from Barcelona.

Reports suggest a fee has been agreed between the two clubs and that the Brazilian will sign a two-year contract with Milan.

Galliani has previously said that the club would sign either Ronaldinho or Adebayor, which could now lead to the latter staying at the Emirates Stadium.

Ronaldinho had also been linked with Manchester City, but his preference has been to secure a move to Carlo Ancelotti's Milan side.
