Real move for Ron is weird

IKER CASILLAS admits Real Madrid's pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo is "peculiar".

The Spanish giants have been linked with a megabucks move for the Manchester United ace for over a year.

But keeper Casillas believes Real should concentrate on building a competitive side.

He said: "Ronaldo and Kaka are great players but we don't have to keep returning to these names.

"What we need is a team that compete with Barcelona and one player doesn't change a team.

"I believe a team always forms together and there cannot be a player that changes everything.

"If we pay

SENIOR Manchester United players have turned on Cristiano Ronaldo and told him to stop acting like a PLONKER.

A number of them were angry with the Portuguese star’s lack of respect for boss Alex Ferguson when he was substituted in Sunday’s Manchester derby.

A club source said: “A number were unhappy about Ronaldo’s behaviour and told him so.

“A lot of these players have grown up with Alex Ferguson as their manager and do not like seeing anyone show him disrespect.” Portugal winger Ronaldo, 24, threw a tracksuit top to the floor and mouthed an expletive as he sat in the dug-out.

But when he got into the changing rooms he was immediately told by some of the players not to act up like that with the boss and to calm it down.

Ronaldo tried to plead his case but, in the end, accepted he was in the wrong.

He left the ground within 15 minutes — more in embarrassment at his actions than in anger.

Ferguson has not confronted Ronaldo about the incident and has preferred to let him stew.

The boss now has to decide whether Ronaldo will be in the right frame of mind to play against Wigan at the JJB tonight.

United need just four points to clinch the Premier League title.

But his show of petulance has once again sparked rumours both in Spain and Portugal of him leaving for Real Madrid.

United are growing tired at Real’s posturing and particularly that of prospective president Florentine Perez.

He says he is willing to offer United £80million for Ronaldo and will tempt the player with a five-year deal worth £120m.

Cristiano Ronaldo Can Join Real Madrid For €80M - Report

The Portuguese ace could be heading to the Bernabeu this summer if the Spanish club invoke a clause in their deal with Manchester United...

12 May 2009 12:35:43

Real Madrid and Manchester United signed agreements last summer that the Spanish club could buy Cristiano Ronaldo after July 1 this year if they paid €80 million, according to a report.

LosMerengues have been linked with the Portuguese star for over a year and even without a permanent president in place, the rumours about him moving to the Bernabeu persist.

Disgraced supremo Ramon Calderon stated recently that a deal was in place and respected daily newspaper El Pais has now published details of what they believe is a binding contract.

Ronaldo could become the most expensive signing ever, despite the global recession, if Madrid take up their option to buy him after July 1 for a staggering €80m.

One clause that El Pais state could see United strongly object that the agreement should not have been leaked until May 31 and if it was then the deal could cancelled.

But that seems unlikely and Ronaldo has been accused of seeking to engineer a move away from Old Trafford with his petulant display when being substituted against Manchester City at the weekend.

Florentino Perez, who stepped down as Madrid president in 2006, is expected to win the forthcoming elections on June 15 at the Spanish club and he is known to want Ronaldo.

El Pais believe that the would-be leader has already held talks with the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, and is trying to broker a deal about how to pay the huge transfer fee in blocks over several years.

If Perez does not win, then it will be down to whoever does beat him to the hot seat to decide if they want to copy his planned return to the Galactico period with the mega-signing.

Iker Casillas stated this week that he feels Madrid should be focussing on building a team by buying the best Spanish players, like David Villa and David Silva, and combining them with youth teams products.

That does not seem to be on Perez's agenda and Ronaldo could now see the move that he stated last summer would be his dream, come true if United have signed the deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson was asked about such an agreement earlier in the campaign and ridiculed the idea of doing a deal "with that mob", as he described Real Madrid.

Tevez: Where will he go

Sunday proved far from a day of rest for Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.

Hours after a newspaper report quoted him saying "goodbye" to the Old Trafford faithful, he celebrated a crucial goal in United's derby victory by seemingly goading the hierarchy who failed to offer him a permanent contract.

The Argentinian's time with the Red Devils appears to be coming to an end and here, 爐akes a look at where he might end up this summer.

REAL MADRID

The 25-year-old has been linked to the Bernabeu giants ever since he slipped down the United pecking order following Dimitar Berbatov's arrival in Manchester. He hardly doused the fires of speculation in January when he said: "Who wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid?... it would be a pleasure to play for them." Would even Real be able to afford him, however, if they complete the widely-anticipated, world-record signing of team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo?

MANCHESTER CITY

Tevez yesterday claimed he hoped to stay in the Barclays Premier League, and interestingly lumped City in with established giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea as possible destinations. There are certainly the petro-dollars available to take him to Eastlands, but even though Robinho has optimistically claimed City can be champions by 2011, yesterday's derby showed the yawning chasm that still exits between the Manchester clubs.

INTER MILAN

The striker's national-team boss, Diego Maradona, described the San Siro as an "excellent solution" to Tevez's lack of action this season. Coach Jose Mourinho is an obvious draw and the Italians have the ambition to take on Europe. However, Serie A now lags far behind the Premier League and La Liga in terms of quality and prestige, and would he be happy to play second fiddle, at least initially, to the enigmatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic?

CHELSEA

With Liverpool and Arsenal unlikely to stump up the reported

Matlamat United sentiasa menang perlawanan

- AFP
