The Blues 0-1 The Blues Pride of London KTBFFH
Report:
This can only be described as a classic Chelsea 1-0 away win. We controlled the game for 70% with Michael Ballack purring like a Rolls Royce engine in the middle, Florent Malouda and Joe Cole providing the chrome down the wings and Nicolas Anelka that little bit of polished walnut up front. It was a pleasant drive out in the country, nice and relaxed, when suddenly I spotted in the rear view mirror that the boot had sprung open. It was the third time in a month that the lock at the back had been unreliable as Petr Cech managed to hoof his clearance directly onto the head of Cameron Jerome for it to be headed back onto our post. If Cech continues to have calamities at this increasing rate by the time he抯 David James |

Delivering The Perfect Corner
Earlier this season I inquired about the wastefulness of Chelsea corners.
Things have improved a bit now. After racking up like 10 corners in each game and not scoring, we are still racking up 10 corners or so in every game- but now we have scored from three of them if my counting is correct.
It got me really going how we waste corners. Maybe as I have been brought up in the tradition that weaker teams (I`m not talking Chelsea here)must learn to use the set pieces, those situations that give the team an opportunity to show strength and get goals. We all know how important freekicks are, for us not even in good positions as we have Alex with the horsekick, Ballack with both force and skilled feet, Lampard that can thread the ball and get those ever so important deflections, Drogba that screws the ball into the net from the angles of the box. Not ever for a moment to forget maybe the best freekick taker in the history of modern football, Gianfranco Zola. For ever in our memories.
Stronger teams could also do well by using the corners won.
But corners, that simply have mostly been a waste of time for Chelsea this season. Especially compared to 2-3 years ago when John Terry scored on corners in figures that rivalled most forwards and also put fear into the hearts of all goalkeepers.
The main reason why; has been because the corners have simply been so incredibly badly taken by the players that probably 50% even do not clear the first player in the defense. Such a waste of time, talent and effort. I was on the verge of suggesting that only the taker and Alex should be sent up into the box. Why bother about anyone else?
Lampard takes most corners at Chelsea. He has not done a good job with that lately, read the last season or so.
When he does not take the corners Florent Malouda and Joe Cole have taken them. And they have been even worse than Lampard. I think you can count the good corners from these two on a single hand.
Then a few games ago, none was available so up stepped Juliano Belletti and started to deliver great corners from the right. Perfect corners that usually found the head of Alex. And the last two goals Chelsea have scored on corners come from his foot. The last one a perfect piece to meet a perfect low header by Claudio Pizarro against Birmingham. I doubt Taylor even saw it before it crossed the line.
My question is so simple. Why do not Belletti take all the corners from the right? Because he does not until
J Cole or Lampard are not playing. Why he finally took the corner against the Brum I don`t know as Malouda that had wasted a couple before was still on the pitch.
Just imagine what added quality a Juliano Belletti corner will give us with a header like John Terry also in the box, or if Chelsea ever start to utilise the heading qualities of Michael Ballack to its full extent. We would undoubtedly score more goals - that is my belief. And that can not be wrong for an attacking positive football team.
Tau takper, bukan la nak puji Belletti sebab beliau pojaan haku, cuma memang beliau bagus pun bab2 corner, long passes ni. Almost perfect ball delivery. Dah 2 gol kita dapat dari corner kick beliau. Tolong la buka mata sket Grant woittt! Jangan la kasik malouda, swp, jokol, lampard amek lagik
