Dari kiri, Choi Jong Hun, Lee Jae Jin, Choi Min Hwan, Lee Hong Ki dan Song Seung Hyun pada sidang akhbar di Double Tree, Kuala Lumpur baru-baru ini.
PERTAMA kali datang ke Malaysia pada 24 September lalu untuk menjayakan Korean Music Wave 2011 di Stadium Merdeka, lima anak muda ini berkata, jika ada kesempatan mereka ingin datang lagi bagi menjayakan konsert solo.
Empat bulan kemudian kumpulan FT Island yang dianggotai Lee Hong Ki (vokal), Lee Jae Jin (bassis dan vokal), Choi Jong Hun (gitar utama dan keyboard), Song Seung Hyun ( gitar dan vokal) serta Choi Min Hwan (drummer) mengotakan janji mereka.
Lebih mengujakan, kehadiran kali ini tidak lagi berkongsi pentas dengan artis Korea lain. Sebaliknya diberi penghormatan mengadakan persembahan eksklusif untuk para peminat setia mereka.
Konsert 2012 Play FT Island Concert in Malaysia yang berlangsung di Stadium Negara pada 14 Januari lalu merupakan konsert kedua mereka di Asia untuk tahun ini selepas beraksi di Jepun.Kehadiran kumpulan yang bermaksud Five Treasure Island itu dilaksanakan oleh Square Roots Sdn. Bhd., selaku penganjur utama.
"Akhirnya kami berjaya mengadakan konsert solo di sini. Semua itu kerana sokongan anda. Terima kasih," kata Hong Ki sebagai pembuka bicara selepas mendendangkan lagu Hope dan A Handsome Guy & A Beautiful Girl pada malam konsert yang berlangsung di Stadium Negara.
Penampilan FT Island berbeza dengan bandboy dari Korea lain kerana mereka bukan mempertaruhkan wajah atau tarian sensasi semata-mata sebaliknya menampilkan skil muzik yang cemerlang. Menonton konsert yang menampilkan pemuzik secara langsung berbanding penggunaan minus one nyata lebih mengujakan 5,500 penonton yang hadir.
Walaupun genre muzik FT Island menjurus kepada rock namun sepanjang dua jam persembahan yang bermula pada pukul 8.30 malam itu, Hong Ki yang banyak berlari dan menari kelihatan tetap 'gagah' dengan stamina.
Melihatkan corak persembahan Hong Ki dan rakan-rakan yang menarik sepanjang konsert itu, tidak hairanlah jika kumpulan itu dipilih sebagai The Best Rock Musician Of The Year dan The Cosmopolitan Fun & Fearless Musician sempena Golden Disk Awards ke-26, di Osaka, Jepun, baru-baru ini.
Bagi peminat-peminat FT Island, bahasa bukan penghalang untuk mereka menikmati persembahan kumpulan tersebut kerana sebahagian daripada 23 buah lagu yang didendangkan sudah dihafal.
Antara lagu yang mendapat sambutan hangat dan turut didendang oleh penonton adalah Bing Bing Bing, Hello Hello, Flower Rock, Sunshine Girl, A Bad Girl, Love Sick dan Until You Back.
Dalam pada sibuk mengadakan konsert di negara Asia, FT Island ketika sidang akhbar sebelum persembahan berkata, Februari ini mereka akan tampil dengan sebuah mini album.
"Untuk waktu terdekat ini kami akan tampil dengan mini album sebelum menghasilkan album penuh pada akhir tahun ini," kata Hong Ki lagi.
Artis label FNC Music itu berharap pada masa hadapan mereka berpeluang mengadakan persembahan bersama dengan kumpulan CN Blue (Code Name Blue) yang berada di bawah bumbung yang sama.

[REVIEW] FTIsland's X'mas Live 2011 Concert at Yokohama Arena by Warner Music Japan Official News Site
On Dec 23 & 24, in a climax mood of Xmas, FTISLAND held “FTISLAND X’mas Live 2011 ‘Winter’s Night’” at Yokohama Arena.
Both 2 days tickets sold out in a minute.
The lucky fans with tickets gathered up there!
Before the live starts.
Around the venue was just like a X’mas party.
With a group of all in Santa’s costumes and groups of all in the yellow capes, the official goods.
Now, I will report the 24th live of those 2 special days.
When I enter the venue, I can see the long walkway comes out from the main stage to about the middle of arena.
The time has come,.
The name of the band appears on the big screen at the back of the stage.
The audience gave a shout of a joy.
When the members appear at the straight big crack in the middle of the screen, their excitement becomes max.
In such a hyper atmosphere, the 1st number ‘So today…’ starts.
Wow, the opening is a rock ballad which deep-rooted even now among fans.
And 2nd song, ‘Stars,’ is also a heartbreaking ballad suitable for winter.
The audience get attracted smoothly to this unexpected romantic development.
A loud opening would also be fun but it’s very x’mas like to pull the whole arena into the romantic mood.
Later on, Lee HongKi, the vocalist, brings it a familiar atmosphere by his MC, saying,
“It’s the end of the year! So fast~~~! (laughter) How are you all? Are you ready to get hyper?”
And since then, the loud, upper songs comes out continuously.
The live rushes into its hyper moment.
It switched into the movement from the stillness.
The 3rd song, ‘Brand-ne days’ is Japanese 2nd major single.
Feeling the powerful performance, the next one ‘Let it go!’ is also well known as the single cut.
It makes me feel like I want to dash.
Then, ‘Boom Boom Boom’.
HK says his recent favorite phrase is 「かわうぃ～ね！（Kawaui~~ne!）」 (means ‘You are pretty!’ but in humorous way to say, mimicking one of Japanese comedians)
So, he sings ‘Kawaui~~ne! Kawaui~~ne!’ instead of ‘BING BING BI-BING’.
And we can enjoy all the member’s vocals without a fail.
SH, JJ and JH show us their solo-vocals from time to time. And it enhances all those songs.
At 2nd MC time, HK tells us that the set-list of this concert is a carefully selected one.
Saying, “We were talking we had too many songs we want to sing in this live!”
Then, ‘Dream sky’, ‘someday’ and ‘Haruka’ which cheer up people who are aiming their dreams.
And ‘Like the birds’ (in a rock version), which loved by Korean citizens since the old time.
All the audience sing along together.
Each members show their solo time before moving on to the later half of the concert!
HK, sings along with his acoustic guitar.
JJ, hot rock’n roll song.
MH, drum solo while he and his drum set moves slowly on the walkway toward the edge.
SH, his gorgeous rap.
JH, ‘Over the Rainbow’ by guitar solo.
The later half of the concert is full of romantic X’mas mood.
A new single, ‘Distance’ and some other slow ballads.
HK just attracts the audience by his emotional vocal.
‘Winter’s Night’ is the last. The beautiful snow falls down from the roof.
It ends in a very impressive atomosphere.
After the whole arena call out encore, shouting, “FTISLAND”, the members come back to the stage.
From now on, the upper tunes come out one after another.
HK stirs up the audience, shouting out, “Are you ready!?”
The hit numbers like ‘Flower Rock’, ‘SATISFACTION’.
And for the very last, ‘Treasure’.
At this time, the whole members come to the edge of the walkway, of course the drum set moves toward, too.
Ending with all the boys gathering at the center of the arena.
Although it has been full of various songs, I feel it went so quickly.
The 5’s power is awesome.
Besides, they are still young.
They surely spread their wings more in the future.
And they will definitely fascinate us in more enjoyable lives in 2012, too.
