Fabregas - City Move 'Suicidal'
Sat 06 Sep, 03:09 PM
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas feels it would be "suicidal" for his career if he were to sign for Manchester City.
Backed by the financial muscle of Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG), new City owner Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim recently revealed his ambition to add a number of world-class players to the squad.
Fabregas and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres are reportedly among the list of targets, while Al-Fahim went as far as to hint at a £135million bid for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gunners star Fabregas, though, has no intention of leaving the Emirates Stadium should City bid for services in the next transfer window as he feels a move to Eastlands would prove detrimental to his career.
The Spain international said in the Telegraph: "It would be suicidal for my career at 21 years of age to move to City. It would make no sense." |

Giggs: Where's Your History, City?
While the rest of the Premier League glances nervously over their shoulders at Manchester City, Ryan Giggs insists his cross-town rivals are nothing more than new money...
When City's new owners, the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), splashed out £32million to prise Robinho away from Real Madrid, their intention was to make a statement of intent.
England has got the message, as the Brazilian superstar's arrival at Eastlands has provoked wary responses from players, pundits and managers across the country.
For instance, Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher has expressed his concern over ADUG's obvious financial supremacy, while Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez believes the Mancunian derby will now be recognised among the world's greatest.
But Giggs is decidedly less worried, and he insisted that no amount of success over the next few seasons will see the Sky Blues outgrow the Red Devils.
"City have the richest owner in the world but I still see United as the biggest club," the United winger, formerly of City's youth system, told The Guardian.
"United have status and history that has taken years to build up. It stretches back to the days of the Busby Babes, to players like Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best.
"We have fans in India, China, South America. That popularity is a result of our history. Money can't necessarily get you that."

Massive Wages Tempted Robinho
New Manchester City signing Robinho was tempted to move to the City of Manchester stadium in a last-minute deal due in part to the hefty wages offered by the club's billionaire owners, a source close to the player told Goal.com
The Brazil international had stated in a press conference on Sunday that he was intent on a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea but, as a move to west London faltered, the Abu Dhabi Group Investment and Development Limited-backed outfit stepped in with a £32.5 million offer.
The rapid-speed at which a fee was agreed left the 24-year old with little time to contemplate a switch away from Real Madrid, but the £250,000 a week pay packet offered went some way to tempting him.
Robinho is likely to be the first of many big-money buys to head to Eastland, with the likes of Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, AC Milan midfielder Kaka and former team-mate Ruud Van Nistelrooy all catching the eye of the free-spending United Arab Emirates nationals.
And with an estimated collective wealth of $1 trillion, even The Blues' owner, Roman Abramovich, will struggle to compete as Thaksin Shinawatra's successors look to use their immense spending-power to establish City as the world's most successful team. |

F1 star Alonso backs Robinho's Man City move
Spanish F1 star Fernando Alonso has backed former Real Madrid winger Robinho's move to Manchester City.
Asked if he regarded Robinho as a 'mercenary', Alonso replied: "Do not use that word. Robinho wanted to leave Madrid and in the end he left Madrid. I think Madrid also came out winning because if a player does not want to stay it can be detrimental to the team.
"I don't see anything wrong because Madrid also were paid very well for Robinho." |

Manchester City plan super stadium
Exclusive by Simon Mullock 7/09/2008
Manchester City's new owners are ready to spend more than £100million to buy the club's rented stadium at Eastlands - and are already looking at how they can increase the 48,000 capacity.
Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, the man behind the consortium that agreed a £210m buy-out of City last week, is ready to press ahead with a plan devised by former owner Thaksin Shinawatra to purchase the City of Manchester Stadium from the local council.
Al Fahim wants to buy the stadium and surrounding land so that he can build a sports and leisure complex that would make City the envy of football.
City will fill the ground for the first time in two seasons when they play Chelsea next Saturday after demand for tickets exploded in the aftermath of the takeover.
A club insider said: "The plan is to make this the biggest club in the world, so we can't play in a stadium that Manchester United fans mockingly call the Council House." |

Agbonlahor Gets Three Girls Pregnant At Once
On the opening day of the season Gabriel Agbonlahor scored a hat-trick within seven minutes of pitch-time, but it appears the promising striker has got good game in other aspects of his life, as he bedded three sexy ladies all at the same time, according to the News Of The World.
After the deed(s) girl after girl after girl informed the potent Villan that each and every one of them had fallen pregnant as a result of the respective nights spent with the charming England hopeful.
High-school sweetheart Sophie Smith; air stewardess and glamour model Tia Hithersay; and socialite Elizabeth Wheeler were all wooed by Gabby. The latter decided to keep the baby and she delivered in June, but Sophie and Tia had theirs aborted.
England head coach Fabio Capello has ordered his player pool to stay out of the front-page headlines. Current regulars Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Ashley Cole, and Wayne Rooney, have all made the news for the wrong reasons in the past but have played their way into Capello's plans by maintaining acceptable form both on and off the pitch.
