Mark Hughes: Manchester City Have 'Really Upset' Alex Ferguson
The Citizens boss appears to be 'flattered' by Fergie's criticism…

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has responded to the criticism levelled at his side by Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson earlier today, by insisting that the Red Devils have not played as well so far this season as they did when they won the title in the 2008/09 campaign.
Ferguson had earlier slammed "arrogant" City's celebration of signing Carlos Tevez by *** a sky-blue billboard emblazoned with an image of the player and the slogan 'Welcome to Manchester', branding it "naughty".
Hughes laughed off Ferguson's comments though, ahead of one of the most eagerly anticipated Manchester derbies for years, and hinted that perhaps a "below par" United were now concerned that City might soon surpass them.
"It does seem to have really upset Sir Alex for some reason," Hughes smiled at his press conference in Manchester today.
"But I don't know, we'll just take it as a little bit of flattery, because obviously in recent years, and for a number of years, City haven't really affected the thinking of Manchester United to any great extent. Possibly that's changed now.
"I've watched a number of their games. I don't think they're playing as well as they did last year. They played well against Tottenham [Hotspur] – I think that's their stand-out performance. Prior to that, I think they've been below par."
