Ruud van Nistelrooy finally completed his ?12million move to Real Madrid last night as Manchester United made it a day of double dealing. The windfall from Van Nistelrooy's departure will be spent immediately on tying up a deal for Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick. The long-running Van Nistelrooy transfer saga came to an end after Real increased their initial ?10.25m offer, although the final fee falls well short of United's ?16m valuation. The Holland striker, a ?19m signing from PSV Eindhoven five years ago, will fly to Madrid today to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal worth ?3.4m a year after tax.

Well, by the look of Real Madrid's official site, Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to join them.
The site has club doctor saying: 'We've done all the tests and he's in good health. He has come back from the World Cup in perfect condition. A previous knee operation that he had six years ago is fine and two or three years ago he had groin surgery but is showing no signs of a recurrence of the injury.'
The out of favour Dutch international is also quoted as saying:
'I am very happy to be at the best club in the world where I want to score many goals. To come here is a football dream and it has finally become reality. It is wonderful to be here, a fantastic feeling. When Real Madrid come looking, you do not have to think because they are the number one. When I look at their history and their players I am very touched because they have many important names.'
