Taron Egerton
Born November 10, 1989 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England, UK
Taron Egerton is a British actor and singer, known for his roles in the British television series The Smoke, the 2014 action comedy film Kingsman: The Secret Service, and the film Rocketman (2019).
How Taron Egerton's Rocketman role of a lifetime became a lifelong gig
The actor enters awards season as not only Elton John's stand-in but now also a close friend — and an accomplished singer.
By Shana Naomi Krochmal
"I mean, there's no two ways about it," Egerton says in a new EW interview for The Awardist podcast. "I've never poured so much of myself into something. I've never felt so devoted to something over such a protracted period of time."
Egerton, who in person is affable and sincere, has spent a significant amount of the last three years on Rocketman: rehearsing and filming, recording its soundtrack at Abbey Road, promoting its release, and now extending the movie's reach into awards season. And where Elton John was known for refusing to take himself seriously, especially onstage, Egerton has approached this role of a lifetime as if it is, in fact, a lifelong commitment.
There was the usual globe-trotting promotional tour, starting at its May premiere in Cannes — he openly wept as the credits rolled — to a fan frenzy upon his arrival in Tokyo and impromptu performance on Paramount Japan's TikTok alongside director Dexter Fletcher. He and costar Richard Madden, who plays John's first boyfriend and eventual manager, John Reid, gamely teased each other in marathon junket sessions and promotional stunts.
But now that the film is long finished, Egerton — who first began talks about starring in Rocketman back in 2016 — seems to be entering a new phase. He and Elton John are steadily sanding down the separation between a 72-year-old rock star and the almost 30-year-old man who has been his stand-in on screen, on an audiobook recording, and in countless interviews about John's legacy. "I've never felt so passionate about something — and so protective," he says.
In recent months as awards buzz about his performance has grown, Egerton has accompanied John, John's husband and Rocketman producer David Furnish, and John's songwriting partner Bernie Taupin to a steady schedule of panel discussions, screenings, and receptions around Los Angeles. Egerton even joined the legendary rock star on stage at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre to belt out a couple of duets before a sold-out crowd who'd come to see a live orchestra accompany a Rocketman screening — full of ardent fans, to be sure, but also no small number of the guild and academy members who vote for award nominations.
"I can't tell you how weird it is to become so close to someone that you portray," Egerton says. "It used to be that I'd turn up at his house and my heart would skip a beat before he came to the door because — it's Elton John. But now… I don't think my heart would flutter. It has just become a very normal thing now, being a part of Elton's life, and David and the boys, their sons."

On Tuesday (Sep 14), about 20 days after the 45-year-old's sudden dramatic blacklist made headlines, a netizen took to Weibo to reveal that Vicki is now back in her birthplace of Wuhu, a city in China’s Anhui province. She had even taken a group photo with the staff during her visit to a telco store (see below), which was included in the post along with a few other candid shots of her using their services. -

Guess Vicki Zhao’s not hiding from anyone
Fans were delighted to see an update on the star, writing: “My favourite actress, only she gives me motivation in life”, “Seeing pretty Vicki makes me so happy”, “Everyone in her hometown still likes and supports her”, and “I’ve been waiting for Vicki jie.” On the other hand, there were sceptics who suspected that the pictures are actually quite old due to their poor quality — um, not everyone has the latest phone, though? — and the fact that nobody aside from Vicki is wearing a mask when there’s a COVID-19 outbreak going on.

China tightened mask requirements in the country last month
If those photos really are recent, this would mark Vicki’s first appearance in public since her scandal broke. She previously resurfaced on Weibo on September 12 when she left a “Happy birthday” comment on a friend’s page. Before the news of her being in Wuhu came out, there were all kinds of speculations as to where she was laying low.

Profile
BiographyLee Joon-Gi was born on April 17th, 1982 in Busan, South Korea. His immediate family consists of his parents and one younger sister. While growing up, Joon-Gi was a fairly normal kid who enjoyed sports & computers. He first became interested in the performing arts as a high school student after watching a play of “Hamlet.”[1] Lee Joon-Gi initially failed to get into college and, because of this, he moved to Seoul with almost nothing, but a dream to work in the entertainment field. For the next couple of years, Joon-Gi worked at various part time jobs, before gaining acceptance into the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
In 2001, Lee Joon-Gi made his debut as a model for fashion brand So Basic, appearing alongside actress Hee-seon Kim.[2] He would go on to appear in many more CF's and music videos. Joon-Gi continued to audition for various acting roles, but not did not find immediate success. In 2004, Joon-Gi landed his first substantive acting role in the TV drama "Star's Echo" - co-produced by MBC & Fuji TV. Joon-Gi would also make his acting debut on the big screen in the same year. Competing alongside 2000 other participants, Joon-Gi landed a role in the Japanese film "The Hotel Venus." During his time working on the set of "The Hotel Venus," Lee Joon-Gi found himself less than pleased with his management company & having to work part time jobs to support himself. "The Hotel Venus" would go on to become moderately successful in Japan selling 2.8 million tickets. Lee Joon-Gi would also start work on his first Korean film "Flying Boys" in 2004.
One year later, Lee Joon-Gi would land the role of "Gong-gil" in the 2005 film "The King and the Clown." The film was an unusual historical drama centered around the relationship between two male clown actors - one having traditional masculine traits and the other (played by Lee Joon-Gi) having highly effeminate traits. To land the role of Gong-gil, Joon-Gi endured four separate auditions. While filming "The King and the Clown," Joon-Gi spoke in a higher pitched voice and acted effeminate even when not in front of the camera to stay in the character of Gong-gil. The movie with little expectations upon its release, would then go on to become the highest grossing film of its time, selling 12.3 million tickets. Lee Joon-Gi also appeared concurrently on the small screen in the SBS drama series "My Girl," further boosting his popularity & making him one of the most popular actors in Asia.
After "The King and the Clown," Joon-Gi has usually taken on more masculine roles to avoid typecasting. He starred in two successful television series, "Time Between Dog And Wolf" & "Il Ji-Mae: The Phantom Thief," while appearing on the big screen in "Fly, Daddy, Fly," "Virgin Snow" (his second Japanese film), & the box office hit "May 18."
In 2009, Lee Joon-Gi worked primarily on his musical career, holding fan concerts in South Korea, China, and Japan, while releasing several digital download singles. Lee Joon-Gi was also appointed an ambassador for Korea tourism by the Korea Tourism Organization.[3] He is now set to star in the upcoming MBC drama "Hero" this November.
