allo....aku nak nyibuk jap leh tak??
biar aku bagi pendpt aku pasal keunikan suara jac....(sapa nak tau napa suara jac unik [dari POV aku]..silakan baca)
ok first of all, for me, jaclyn victor is an amazing singer with an amazing voice because no one has a voice like her, here in malaysia. her timbre may be ubiquitous in places that are abundant with black people or people that possess the soulful timbre of a black singer like in the USA, but here in malaysia...jac's timbre is VERY RARE. i would consider that malaysia is very lucky to have a singer with that kind of timbre.
secondly, jac possesses the ability to belt out her voice amazingly. in malaysia, i don't think there are many singers who can actually belt out pretty good. there may be a few singers out there who can actually belt out and come pretty close to jac such as idayu, aishah, ziana zain and nora to name a few. some singers in malaysia do not know the proper technique of belting and ergo, border on the verge of shouting or screaming. one name that sticks to my head is farah from af2. because of her lack of ability to control her chest voice when belting, she would frequently spill onto the spectrum of shouting instead of belting beautifully.
third, jac possesses the amazing ability to venture into the upper echelons of the chest voice with ease especially in the 5th octave. she has constantly been able to belt out her chest voice with considerable ease unlike many other singers in malaysia. frankly speaking, not that many singers in malaysia possess the ability to reach the upper echelons of the 5th octave in chest voice. most usually reach the 5th octave through head voice, mix voice (rarely...and usually not with the right technique) or falsetto. jac has shown repeatedly that she can reach the 5th octave in chest voice with ease. other singers barely can do that (and if they do, it'll usually border on shouting) with the exception of a few such as, like i mentioned earlier, idayu, nora, aishah and so forth. jac has reached AND sustained E5s, F5s (cinta tiada akhirnya during the climax), F#5s, G5s (gemilang live) and EVEN an A5 once, singing gemilang during the encore of juara lagu when she won for that title for gemilang. for black singers or maybe some white singers, this is a normal occurrence in the music business but here in malaysia, its not always for a singer to constantly reach those notes and sustain them at the same time (and be bearable on the ears simultaneously too:bgrin.
fourth, jac possesses the ability to put ornamentation into her songs. she can do melismatas easily, doing runs, trills and vamping at her will. her voice can easily switch from head voice to chest voice to falsetto and back to the former without strain (usually). she seems to not possess a passaggio problem and switches the bridge of her voice easily without breaking.
fifth, jac possesses the ability to produce a VIBRATO flabbergastingly, clearly, naturally, easily, frequently while sustaining it. this is something that clearly makes me euphoric with a singer. in malaysia this ability is pretty rare when you combine all the features that i have just mentioned earlier with vibrato. of course again, this ability is pretty normal for the majority of black or white singers in the USA. usually in malaysia, singers rarely are able to produce a vibrato and even if they do display that ability, it is usually unclear (being subtle), unnatural and most revoltingly FORCEFUL. the production of a vibrato should conspicuously come from the undulation and modulation of the true vocal chords inside the mouth and not because of the obvious stuttering movements of the lower jaw. however in malaysia, this ability is not so ubiquitous among singers with the exception of a few. one singer who conspicuously stutters her lower jaw to produce a vibrato is ziana zain. now, this is not wrong, but it is an unhealthy technique if you do it constantly. jac has shown the ability to produce amazing vibratoes at times, citing the live version of when i fall in love during the MI season 1 finals. you could actually hear the vibration and resonance of her voice clearly and so powerfully and her jaw was not as conspicuous as ziana's (i do love ziana's vibratoes a lot so don't get me wrong:bgrin. she also has the ability to actually sustain it for quite some time (more than a mere 2-3 seconds).
sixth, jac most importantly possesses the ability to SUSTAIN her notes. now THAT is something rare in malaysian singers. to find a singer with this ability in malaysia is like finding a needle in a haystack. only a few have the ability to actually sustain their notes properly for a LONG time naming a few examples such as siti nurhaliza (9 seconds for her medley performance during the anugerah era 05), idayu (12 seconds and 9 seconds during the group performance of whitney houston's didn't we almost have it all), ziana zain (10 seconds, 13 seconds, and again 14 seconds before she ended it(with 9 seconds of it being vibrato ONLY - gila la minah nie!) during the performance of lembah asmara for muzik muzik) and maybe siti sarah (6 seconds) for the studion version of bersamamu. with the exception of siti sarah, the others sustained their notes in chest voice, belting out or in the whistle register (which is even rare here). of course overseas, many singers have shown the ability to sustain their notes for more than 10 seconds such as rachelle ferrell (25 seconds for i can explain and 28 seconds for why you wanna mess it all up), vanessa amorosi (25 seconds for heroes live forever [flabbergastingly sustaining an A5 and B5 in chest voice WITH vibrato]), and MISIA (20 seconds for mekubase no blues and 23 seconds for koi suru kisetsu). now jac has shown the ability to sustain her notes for more than 5 seconds usually. she also can do this while incorporating vibrato and belting in high chest voice. some of her long notes have included, 5 seconds for when i fall in love (with only vibrato in it) during the MI season 1 finals, 8 seconds during a live performance of gemilang and 13 seconds during the climax ending of the studio version of gemilang (that was in chest voice, with vibrato AND an F5 - crazy).
last but not least, jac's voice is unique because of her vocal range. not many singers in malaysia possess a vocal range as big as hers (approximately 2.5 octaves, give or take a few notes) and even if they do, they usually don't know how to use it properly especially the upper echelons of the 5th octave in chest voice. jac can just hit any note within her tessitura easily. many singers may possess big vocal ranges but many unfortunately do not know how to hit ALL the notes in between their range. more sadly, some have passaggio problems, having difficulty switching from head to chest and such. jac has displayed the ability to reach low notes, high notes in chest voice, head voice and her highest being falsetto (C6 - in live versions of gemilang). singers who possess vocal ranges bigger than jac are not that many citing examples such as idayu (approximately 3.5-4 octaves) and nikki (approximately 3.5-3.8 octaves), usually because of their ability to access the whistle register.
jadi itula pndpt aku pasal keunikan penyanyi bernama jaclyn victor. sekian terima kasih. kalo rajin bagila aku kdt byk2(kekeekekekeeek..sajaje:bgrin.
