Sho Sakurai to star in "Yatterman" movie
Sun, November 25, 2007 (4:37pm EST)
On Sunday, it was announced that Arashi member Sho Sakurai will star in the upcoming live-action "Yatterman" movie, which is based on the popular 1970s anime series of the same name.
Sakurai will play the hero Gan Takada, one half of the Yatterman team. The actress playing Ai (Gan's girlfriend and the other half of Yatterman) will be decided in December, while the cast of villains will be decided in January.
The movie, directed by Takashi Miike, opens in the spring of 2009. A new anime series was also announced earlier this year, and that will be aired on NTV starting on January 14.

Charts: TOKIO, Kazumasa Oda
Mon, December 3, 2007 (4:43pm EST)
TOKIO was able to claim to the #1 spot on the singles chart this week, as "SEISYuN" sold only 46,000 copies against even weaker competition. This is their first chart-topper since last year's "Sorafune," and their sixth overall.
Meanwhile, Kazumasa Oda once again demonstrated his lasting popularity, reaching the top of the albums chart with his latest hits collection, "Jiko Best 2," which sold 176,000 copies. At the age of 60 years and 3 months, he remains the oldest artist to have a #1 album, having set the previous record in 2005. He also set the same record for singles with "Kokoro" this past August.
