Mijatovic: No Benzema, Cesc, Ronaldo Moves :handshake: :handshake: :handshake:

Real Madrid sporting director Pedja Mijatovic believes that there is little chance of the clubs signing Lyon striker Karim Benzema next season. He also discarded bringing Cesc Fabregas and Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.

Mijatovic revealed that Real Madrid are already planning for next season, but ruled a number of high profile targets out of the running.

The Serb affirmed that "Cesc Fabregas and Cristiano Ronaldo have been discarded," and that the bringing in Karim Benzema from Lyon is "almost impossible."

"Benzema is a great player, but his team want to renew his contract, and it will be impossible for him to move from Olympique Lyon," he said.

"Honestly speaking, I see it as being impossible. He is 19 years old, it is his first important year and he has responded very well.

"Knowing how hard a team like Lyon work with the ideas they have, there is no way they will let such an important player leave. They will surely renew his contract, and maybe in a couple of years, he will be available on the transfer market."

"I would say Cesc and Cristiano are practically discarded, because they belong to two very important teams who are not willing to let go of them," he continued.

"If at this moment we deal with Arsenal, Manchester United or Lyon, we will have lots of difficulty. If nothing strange happens, it is impossible."

Mijatovic believes that "this summer will be much quieter than the last two years," because Real Madrid are "not planning on making many new signings."

He also said that he hopes that Mahamdou Diarra will stay on at the club, instead of moving to Italy: "I hope he stays. He has a contract with us. We haven't received any official offer for Diarra. The big teams know we are happy with him. He arrived last year, and won the league, and this year he is doing well.

"We have to see what his opinion is, because maybe he is thinking about moving. We have to sit down with him and the coach, and make decisions."

Van Nistelrooy Not Ready For Roma

Bernd Schuster has suffered a setback in his preparations for the Champions League encounter against Roma as Ruud van Nistelrooy has failed to recover from his injury.

The German coach was hoping to include the Dutch striker in his line up as Los Merengues look to bounce back after losing the first leg in Italy.

Van Nistelrooy was keen to make the game against Roma his comeback match, but club medics have told him that he cannot risk causing further damage to his ankle.

Despite several rounds of physiotherapy, the former Manchester United goalscorer is still unable to kick a ball and is now going to work in the swimming pool and gymnasium.

Madrid's medical team have also told Schuster that Van Nistelrooy will be unavailable for the next league game, at home to Espanyol on Saturday.

There has been some good news, however, as Guti and Michel Salgado have both been given the all clear to play after missing the game against Recreativo.
