Liverpool deny approach for Mourinho

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has slammed reports linking the club with a move for Porto coach Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho is regarded as one of the brightest coaching talents to emerge in Europe in recent times and has admitted receiving two offers from Premiership clubs.

Media reports in Portugal claim that Chelsea and Liverpool, who have endured yet another disappointing season, are the two clubs concerned.
"I have two offers from English clubs, but I have to underline that I am happy at FC Porto and have no reason to leave,'' claimed Mourinho.
But Parry has moved quickly to distance the Reds from such speculation.
"Contrary to press reports Liverpool have not made any approach or offer to Porto coach Jose Mourinho,'' Parry said.
"The story is simply not true.''
Mourinho, 41, was this week reportedly the focus of an approach by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and chief executive Peter Kenyon but told the Daily Telegraph that he would prefer a move to Merseyside.
"Liverpool are a team that interests everyone,'' he said.
"Chelsea does not interest me so much because it is a new project with lots of money invested in it.''
Mourinho led Porto to the Uefa Cup last season as well achieving the domestic league and cup double, and he has maintained that high level of achievement this term.
His team drew 0-0 in the home leg of their last-four tie against Deportivo La Coruna in the Champions League on Wednesday, and still have an excellent chance of reaching the final in Gelsenkirchen on 26 May. |
