Kieron Dyer has completed his move from Newcastle to West Ham after the two clubs finally reached an agreement.

The England midfielder had looked set to join The Hammers earlier this month after announcing he wanted to leave St James' Park to be closer to his family.

Aug. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Manchester City recorded its third straight win in English soccer's Premier League with a 1-0 victory against Manchester United, which is yet to register a success.

Brazilian midfielder Geovanni, making his first start for the home team, scored the only goal at the City of Manchester Stadium after 31 minutes. United dominated, though failed to score for a second time in three matches.

City goes top of the standings with a maximum nine points through three of 38 matches, three points ahead of Wigan, Chelsea and Everton. Portsmouth is a further one point back. Defending champion United remains 16th in the 20-team league on two points.

``It was a great team performance, we couldn't have wished for more,'' City defender Micah Richards told Sky Sports. ``We've shown today we can beat anyone.''

Chelsea can join City on nine points if it beats Liverpool later today, while Blackburn hosts Arsenal in the other game.

United created the game's first opportunity after four minutes when winger Nani tested goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, the son of former United stopper Peter, with a first-time shot.

Nani forced Schmeichel into another save after 17 minutes from a low 20-yard effort, while Patrice Evra shot wide from 10 yards in the 24th minute.

City finally got a shot on target after 31 minutes as Geovanni scored. His long-range curling effort took a slight deflection off United center-back Nemanja Vidic before flying into the bottom corner.

United continued to press in the second half with Vidic heading against the bar after 47 minutes. Richards cleared a Ryan Giggs cross before Carlos Tevez and Paul Scholes could get onto it, then Tevez deflected a Giggs cross just wide among other opportunities. Tevez headed into the side netting in injury time.

City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has now guided City to its best start to a Premier League season, while Schmeichel is yet to allow a goal this campaign.
