Pearson and Wilkinson enter the fray
By tim whelan
Date: 8/7/2007
According to BBC Sport, Adam Pearson and Peter Wilkinson are to make a bid for Leeds United. But Simon Franks and Simon Morris have also re-iterated their determination to succeed in their own bids to buy the club.
Adam Pearson was commercial director at Elland Road under the Ridsdale regime, before leaving in 2001 to become chairman of Hull. He stood down from that position in June after selling the club to a consortium fronted by Paul Duffen for |

Bates set to win renewed Leeds bidding battle
Matt Scott
Monday July 9, 2007
The Guardian
Ken Bates appears to be in pole position to regain control of Leeds United after one of the leading bidders for the ailing club last night described the sale process as "utterly prejudicial".
After buying it back from Bates's consortium last Friday the administrators, KPMG, have set a deadline of 5pm today for new bids for the club. But there are claims that only Bates, Leeds's chairman since January 2005, has been allowed full access to the books in recent months.
"I'm furious," said Simon Franks, who states that his Redbus Group investment vehicle has millions of pounds ready to fund the League One club. "This is utterly prejudicial. We have to reduce our bids because of the 'known unknowns'. Mr Bates doesn't have to."

League One - Bates buys back Leeds Eurosport - Wed, 11 Jul 16:31:00 2007
The administrators of Leeds United have announced the sale of the club back to a consortium headed by Ken Bates, for an undisclosed sum.
More Stories
Bates's company Leeds United FootballClub Limited have already made two recent attempts to buy the club, butboth were derailed when the Inland Revenue rejected offers of 1p and 8pin the pound on money it was owed.
The former Chelsea supremo was chairman of Leeds last season, when they were relegated into League One.
He said: "It's an anticlimax, I suppose, after all we've been going through.
"It'sbeen a bit annoying and part of the delay has been caused by people whohave professed their love for the club but have done their best tocause as much trouble as possible."
According toadministrators KPMG, the winning bid for the club was unconditional andfollows the decision by the administrators to put the club up for saleoutside of a Company Voluntary Arrangement, which had been approved byUnited's creditors.
The Yorkshire club, Champions Leaguesemi-finalists in 2001, had been widely marketed post administration, with several parties bidding to takeover the Elland Road side.
JointAdministrator Richard Fleming said: "We received several offers for thebusiness which we considered carefully. The approved deal representsthe best result for creditors in the circumstances and we believeprovides the club with the best chance of survival."
"We understand this has been a difficult time for all those concerned about the future of Leeds United. This deal is a necessary step if the club is to have a chance ofplaying in League One in the 2007/08 season. We wish the club well inits endeavours."
Simon Franks, the head of a rival bid toBates' consortium, told Sky Sports News: "Obviously I'm verydisappointed. As you know, it's been a tortuous process and we puttogether what we considered a very brave bid, and I am gobsmacked thatwe appear not to have got the club."

Luque-ing good for Albert
Having watched Luque flop under Souness (spit) and be used as some sort of scapegoat by Glenn Roeder as a reason why he can`t get transfer funds, it looks like Big Sam is going to be a bit more inclusive of our Spanish midfielder. With a move to PSV collapsing due to his wage demands, the boss is going to attempt to milk some action out of such a big money signing. Expect face-to-face talks when he gets back from his Big Fat Spanish Wedding. |

Premiership - Euroscout: Tuncay
Eurosport - Sun, 15 Jul 13:57:00 2007
Turkey international and Premiership newcomer Tuncay Sanli is the subject of our latest Euroscout in Middlesbrough's pre-season friendly against Schalke.
FOOTBALL 2007 International Friendlies Turkey Tuncay Sanli - 0
Forward Tuncay, 25, joined Boro ten days ago and expectant fans will hope he can go some way to replacing Mark Viduka, recently departed to north east neighbours Newcastle. We watched his debut in the English club's 3-0 loss on tenterhooks to see whether the Premiership can expect an all-new dose of Turkish delight in the coming campaign.
Tuncay, who is a superstar in his home country, can also operate out wide on either flank. His new manager Gareth Southgate opted to use him on the right in the opening stages, although he often popped up alongside Yakubu up front, swapping positions with another versatile player, James Morrison.
There was little to see of our man in the opening quarter of an hour as Schalke dominated the possession. He had barely touched the ball when Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi gave his side the lead with a cheeky backheel from close range.
Tuncay had a hand in Boro's first chances. His pass to feet allowed youngster Adam Johnson an opportunity to strike and the midfielder sent his effort wide of the post.
Shortly after he found Yakubu with a similar pass, who turned and shot over the bar from distance. However Tuncay had continued his run, overlapping the Nigeria international and asking for the return through pass. It was a promising sign.
Boro were still on the back foot though and the player, sporting flowing locks to rival any other flamboyant import to grace the Premiership, was restricted to occasional touches that came to nothing.
Do not think that he was not interested though in this slow-moving run-out. He showed a willingness to track back when dispossessing Kuranyi and played the ball back safely to 22-year-old goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, who was looking to impress after several years of loan moves to lower league clubs.
Tuncay showed quick feet to try and defeat Rafinha as he popped up on the left touchline, but the move did not quite come off as he collided with the Brazilian right-back, who had to retire injured as a result.
He was unlucky not to grab an assist when he burst through the German club's back line and squared for Yakubu. Before he could slip the ball into the net the flag was raised against Tuncay, who was slightly beyond the last defender.
The quality of his touch was evident despite Boro's ineptitude as he looked to thread through balls for Yakubu and took down a high ball with ease. However his team went in at the break two goals down after Gerald Asamoah finished following poor execution of the offside trap.
Southgate, unfortunately for us, lived up to his pre-game promise to test a slew of players and replaced several of them, including Tuncay. If the rest of the match was a non-event - Mimou Azaouagh adding the third and final goal - at least we saw a spark of quality from the free transfer signing. |

Revenue and Customs believes Bates violated Insolvency laws
England - 19 July, 2007
Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The continuing woes of English Leeds United might have just grown a bit.
Revenue & Customs now believes chairman Ken Bates and Mark Taylor, his solicitor, have violated insolvency laws by positioning themselves as directors of a newly formed company to buy out Leeds.
Bates and Taylor are directors of Leeds United Football Club Limited. This came about after Bates placed the club into administration, bought it back with a 1p per GBP offer with the backing of the club's biggest creditor, had that challenged by Revenue and Customs, and then offered 8p per GBP owed.
When administrators KPMG put the club back up for sale, Bates' bid |

Allardyce Wants Dyer Talks
Fri 20 Jul, 05:09 PM
Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce plans talks with Kieron Dyer after the midfielder was linked with a move to West Ham.
After the Hammers lost new signing Julien Faubert for six months with a ruptured Achilles earlier this week, there was talk Dyer was on their hitlist.
Allardyce insists the 28-year-old remains part of his plans at St James' Park but said: "I suppose I will have to have a chat with Kieron to see if he thinks there is anything in it and if there is, we will discuss it privately from there.
"But at the moment, there is no bid from West Ham, so until Alan Curbishley rings me or the chief executive rings (chief operating officer) Russell Cushing, then there would be no discussion.
"It has been rumoured in the papers and sometimes there is no smoke without fire.
"But if there's a bid going to come in, I would probably expect a phone call over the weekend because they have lost one of their new players.
"Whether there is some interest there now, I don't know. Kieron Dyer is not a player I would particularly want to lose, but one never knows at this stage of the season what's going to happen." |
