Sedih lepas update ipad2 aku.... Takde YouTube app

Maxis: nano-SIM available on 24th September
September 21st, 2012 Posted in Apple . Tech Write comment
The newly launched iPhone 5 uses nano-SIM instead of existing Micro-SIM. For Malaysian that already or going to get an iPhone 5 (rumoured iPhone 5 in Malaysia on 26 Oct), there are two options for the SIM card:
i) Cut the size of Micro-SIM to nano-SIM size
Folks from asia.cnet already managed to fit a modified nano-SIM in an iPhone 5 without having to reduce its thickness. Read the article: “Can you convert a micro-SIM into a nano-SIM?”
ii) Buy nano-SIM from telco
Maxis Communications Berhad will be the first telco in Malaysia to release nano-SIM with price tag RM25, a post wrote by Ashley from Maxis forum, 9/21/2012
STATEMENT BY MAXIS BERHAD ON AVAILABILITY OF THE NANO SIM
MEDIA RELEASE
For immediate release
Kuala Lumpur, 21 September 2012
Maxis Berhad is the first in Malaysia to introduce the new Nano SIM for iPhone5. Maxis customers who already have an iPhone 5 and those who plan to purchase the device in the future can get the Nano SIM for RM25 beginning 24 September at selected Maxis Centres in the Klang Valley specifically KLCC, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Sunway Pyramid and The Gardens as well as in Queensbay Mall in Penang and Danga Bay in Johor Bahru. It will be made available at other Maxis Centres nationwide by late September.
The Nano SIM design is 30% smaller and 15% thinner than the existing Micro SIM. It measures at 12.3 x 8.8 mm in size and 0.7 mm in thickness and offers device manufacturers the crucial advantage of freeing up extra space for other mobile phone components such as additional memory or larger batteries. The much smaller Nano SIM continues to use the same smart card chips as existing SIM cards, and will offer the same functionality as all current SIM cards and is backwards compatible with existing SIM card designs.
For more information on the Nano SIM from Maxis, please visit www.maxis.com.my or call 1800 82 1123.
so, sesiapa yang nak beli pre-official unit kat singapore atau grey importer sudah buleh ... today udah boleh tukar nano sim(maxis)...hopefully Digi & Celcom dalam 2-3 hari lagi Last edited by Cakkkk....aaaa on 24-9-2012 09:05 AM

I took a micrometer screw gauge (memories of your school science lab should be flooding back now) and measured the thickness of a nano-SIM borrowed from Singapore operator StarHub. This specimen was 0.68mm thick, while a micro-SIM from the same telco was 0.82mm.
Now, let's say the SIM tray on the iPhone 5 allows a nano-SIM up to 0.70mm (as permitted by the allowance in the standard set by ESTI), I will need to pare down 0.12mm on my micro-SIM so that it will fit. After a few minutes of sanding with some sandpaper (240 grit, for those who care), it was finally down to 0.70mm. But did the sanding damage the card?
I'm happy to report that the card, even at 0.70mm, continued to work when inserted in an HTC One X. Sanding the non-metal side of the micro-SIM did not appear to affect how it functions. Do note that in the process, the fine dust from the sanding smells terrible and may irritate your nose, so wear a face mask if you are going to attempt this.
As of now, this micro-SIM's length and width has not been cut down to become a nano-SIM, simply because there's no iPhone 5 to test it with. I will finish the job and test it out once Apple's smartphone is available later this week.
The sanded down micro-SIM gets stripped of its identifying numbers, so make sure you copy those down first.
Take note that this last bit about sanding down the SIM card could be entirely unnecessary. It could well be that the iPhone 5's nano-SIM tray can accept the micro-SIM's thickness with no issues at all. What has been established though, is that if a micro-SIM has to be thinned out, it can be done with no detrimental effect. And also very importantly, it can be done very easily with a piece of sandpaper.
not that hard after all... |
