Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has been released from hospital just five days after breaking his leg.
The player suffered the horrific injury when he was caught by Birmingham City's Martin Taylor in the 2-2 draw at St Andrews on Saturday.
He has spent the last four nights in a London hospital but the club has confirmed he has been allowed to leave.
The Croatian faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines and is certain to miss the rest of this season and Euro 2008 in the summer. Arsenal hope he could be back in action in nine months.
Former Coventry City defender David Busst is confident Eduardo will play again if there are no complications in his recovery.
Busst saw his career ended in a Premier League match against Manchester United in 1996 after suffering a similar injury to Eduardo.
"If there's no complications, I'm sure he will be back playing again," Busst said.
compound fracture
"It wasn't the break that stopped me playing again but the infections I caught after that. I suffered a double compound fracture of the tibia and fibula and had 20 operations on my right leg, with 10 operations in the first 12 days.
"I'd like to reassure Eduardo and tell him not to let people compare his injury to mine because I did have to give up. It was the infection, muscle and tissue damage that stopped me from playing again.
"They will have closed up where the bone had come out from the skin and pinned the bones. If they have done all that without any infection then he will be back playing when the bone has healed in about 12 months."
Kalau ikut cakap orang yang berpengalaman nie... maksud dia eduardo tu ada peluang untuk main bola balik.... kalau betul, bagus la... dia pun ada potensi untuk jadi lejen...![](static/image/smiley/default/smile.gif) ![](static/image/smiley/default/smile.gif)

Wenger won’t rush Van Persie
![](http://www.examiner.ie/irishexaminer/pages/robinVanPersieArsenalX.jpg)
ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger yesterday insisted he won’t rush Robin van Persie back into action despite the loss of Eduardo.
The Croatian striker is out for the season after breaking his leg at Birmingham on Saturday.
The Dutchman would be considered the perfect replacement but has only figured in three games since last October and is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.
As a result Wenger is determined not to rush the Dutchman’s return.
"We will not rush Robin van Persie back but the news is quite good," vowed Wenger. "It is very difficult to say (when he will be back in the side). We go step by step. But he should come back into normal training, very, very quickly now.
"Maybe I am being a little over-cautious in my statements but I do not want to put any special pressure on him.
"But the fact that Eduardo is out is one more reason to (get him back)."
For the game at St Andrews, Arsenal’s absentees list read: Alex Song (knee), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Abou Diaby (calf), Kolo Toure (knee) Johan Djourou (groin), Van Persie (thigh) and Emmanuel Eboue (suspended).
"It looks like you can take Diaby out of that list," replied Wenger when the roll-call was read out. "All of the other players are not back."
However while both Ivorians will miss tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa at the Emirates they may be back for Tuesday’s crunch Champions League trip to Milan.
"Eboue will be back from suspension then," said the Frenchman. "We don’t know about Kolo. It looks a little bit early but you never know." |
