Close to nature
Over a Cuppa: By HOO BAN KEE
Cameron Highlands is still an attractive tourist resort despite the warmer climate.
I WAS at the Bharat Tea House in Cameron Highlands having my brunch when a little sparrow joined me, very briefly, at my table. While keeping a distance, she tilted her head and looked at me, as if to greet me and ask how I was enjoying my short holiday at the hill resort.
As I momentarily took my eyes off the verdant tea plantation hugging the hill slopes to give my uninvited guest a smile and say, 揥hat a wonderful day! |

Bukit Larut likely to get cable car service
TAIPING: Visitors going up to Bukit Larut will soon be able to do so by cable car.
A private company, now operating the cable car system in Langkawi, is expected to get the approval to operate the cable car service at Bukit Larut.
It is now looking for possible sites to build a station to house ticket booths.
The company approached the state government with the cable car proposal in April. It felt that the project was viable because 700,000 people visit the Taiping Zoo compared with 100,000 visitors in Langkawi.
The state government did not give its approval then because it feared protests from environmentalists and nature lovers who successfully stopped a similar project in the 1990s.
State Public Utility and Infrastructures Committee chairman Datuk Ho Cheng Wang said the final decision would only be made after more discussions with the company.
Ho said that unlike previously, the current proposal did not involve any exchange of prime land at the Lake Gardens nor major physical development projects that could affect the eco-system at Bukit Larut whose foothill had been designated as a water catchment area.
He also said that the state government had approved a RM3mil allocation to build two blocks of bungalows on Bukit Larut which could accommodate more than 100 overnight visitors.
A jeep service is now used for trips up to Bukit Larut, which was formerly known as Maxwell Hill. |

Cable car system for Bkt Larut (Maxwell Hill)
By RASLAN BAHAROM
TAIPING: The Perak state government has given the nod to a private company to operate a cable car system to ferry visitors up to Bukit Larut (formerly Maxwell Hill) which is currently served by a jeep service.
State Public Utility and Infrastructures Committee chairman Datuk Ho Cheng Wang said the company, which currently operates a cable car system in Langkawi, was in the process of identifying possible locations to build a station to house its ticketing booths.
"We have yet to confirm the location of the station -- once the company has identified it, its representatives will discuss the matter with me for a final decision," he told a press conference here on Saturday.
The company's representatives had in April proposed the cable car system.
However the state government did not approve the proposal then, fearing protests by environmentalists and nature lovers who in the 1990s successfully stopped a similar project proposed by a teachers' cooperative.
Ho said that unlike that particular proposal, the current one did not involve any exchange of prime land at the Lake Gardens nor major physical development projects which could affect the eco-system at Bukit Larut, whose foothill has been designated a water catchment area.
Ho said that the state government had also approved a RM3mil allocation to build two blocks of bungalows at Milestone 6 on Bukit Larut, which could accomodate more than 100 overnight visitors.
"Once completed, more visitors can stay overnight up the hill," he said.
Ho, who is also Pokok Assam state assemblyman, said tenders for the project had been called. |

Kalau peak season, utk hotel mmg tak advisable walk-in je, tapi byk apartment yg available especially yg utk muslim families (sbb diorang ni owner sendiri yg particular sikit untuk sewa kat non-muslim), boleh tanya kat mana2 kedai makan Melayu contohnya kat Medan Selera Brinchang. Kalau nak 1 bilik pun diorang boleh kasi rate, nanti diorang kunci bilik2 yg lain. |

Aku boleh suggest kat area Brinchang je sbb jarang duduk kat Tanah Rata. Bagi aku kalau pot kat Brinchang senang nak jalan2, my opinion la.
Kalau kategori murah tapi bersih aku rekemen Hotel Rainbow atau Hotel Parkland, lokasi kat downtown Brinchang, area Pasar Malam dulu (sekarang dah pindah kan). Kalau nak up sikit Hotel Rosa Pasadena.
Kalau apartment yg aku pernah pergi dan boleh rekemen Villa Dahlia dan Star Regency. |

betul..
strawberry park ni suggest utk honeymooner or tourist..
kita org malaysia just lepak budget htl jek.. n location biar la kat brinchang..
easy nak ke pasar malam / kedai makan / kedai runcit / stesen minyak..
kalau travel dgn keter sendiri & ade budget lebih.. dok je kat heritage hotel 4*.. lebih selesa.
ataupun dok kat equatorial hotel 5*.. ade pasar pagi + strawberry farm + flower farm.. walkin distance jek. kalau family besar amik le apartment 2-3 bilik kat sini.. |
