Leon Lai's News Today - 23/02/2004
The results of Leon's first try as the creative and production controller in "Leaving Me, Loving You" was not bad. After screening for more than a week, its box-office had already exceeded HK$8 million. However, what made Leon most excited was that many audience felt the romantic feeling from the beautifully shot scenes. Therefore, he came up with an idea with the film company to print limited edition postcards for collectors, and to put a small photo gallery in certain cinemas.
On the other hand, regarding the scene whereby Leon and Faye played reverse bungy, the director Wilson Yip revealed that both of them had a fun time playing it, and he admired their courage very much. Besides, it was rare for both of them to have a chance to play it, therefore they were particularly immersed in that scene.

As Leon's first time being production controller for the movie <<LMLY>>, the performance was really successful. The movie has been up for over a week and it made over HK$8 million. What made Leon feel excited is a lot of people who watched the movie thinks the beautiful sceneries brought out a romantic feel. Other than Leon and the film company proposed in printing movie postcards, a small gallery was placed in the cinemas. Before the audience enter, they can admire stunning movie pictures. Entering the 2nd week, the movie will strive to victory.
Director Wilson Yip revealed Leon and Faye played the bungee ride to the extreme. He appreciated them for being fearless and their efforts in filming.
Leon and Faye will go to Taiwan on March 2nd-3rd to promote <<LMLY>> as it's premiering there at that time.

Leon Lai News Today - 25/02/04
     
Leon recently shot a sneakers advertisement in Shanghai. Although it was only taking photographs, but he had always been very serious about his work, so a total of two days were taken for the two series of outdoor and indoor photos. The photographer was his old friend and partner, Cheung Man Wah.
The advertiser spent a lot of time persuading Leon to do the advertisement, the boss even personally went to Shanghai to discuss with Leon while he was filming "Leaving Me Loving You" there. As the other party was very sincere and the time and venue of shooting the ad can be fully accommodated to his working schedule, Leon agreed. During the post-production of the movie, he took out 2 days to film the ad in Shanghai.
As time was running out and Leon had to go to Thailand for the movie's post-production work, therefore he only slept 5 hours in the 2 days. The working crew even praised that Leon was "Super Iron Man". In order to thank Leon and make him happy, the boss personally went to Leon's favourite restaurant and bought 2 dozens of his favouraite dumplings for Leon. Who knows, Leon finished all the dumplings within 15 minutes.
The advertiser borrowed an old fighter plane as a prop for the phototaking. Leon was very interested in this fighter plane, and requested Cheung Man Wah to take a photo of him in the pilot seat for remembrance. He was also very curious about the structure of the plane, and kept going around the plane and touching it.

Yesterday, Leon accepted a radio interview and revealed that after promotion of Leaving Me Loving You in Taiwan for the next two days, he will focus on recording his next album and then films for the second half of the year.
Leaving Me Loving You has earned HK$10.08 million to date, Leon happily expressed thanks for the audience's support because this is after all not a mainstream film, it had only hoped for HK$7-8 million at the box office beforehand. When it was decided to release the movie in Mandarin, it was only going to show in 12 cinemas but after an overseas film company showed interest, it finally got shown on over 20 screens. After doing so much behind the camera work for Leaving Me Loving You, Leon was asked whether he hoped to become a film director, he replied, 'No, I'm happier being an artist, it's just that in recent years the music market has been very bad, artists releasing albums nowadays is already courageous but it has been over a year since my last album so I will record a new album, it's something that must be done for myself and the audience and it's about time to give something back to the fans!'. Leon also said that he wants to make an album with sincerity.
LMLY original soundtrack was released yesterday and showed huge popularity. The manager of a music store in Mong Kok said, 'There were many people asking about this CD beforehand, maybe because Leon has not released anything in such a long time! Today we quickly sold 50-60 copies, and after a few more hours, we sold out, that's about 150-160 copies! It's very good!'

--Leon and Faye were in TW promoting <<LMLY>>. Both attended the press conference and fans Q&A meeting. At the press conference, Leon was asked if the reason he filmed <<LMLY>> was to rekindle with old flame Faye. Leon answered, "If I want to woo her, I would directly call her for a date. Don't have to stress over filming." Faye said,
"There wasn't a relationship to begin with, so how is it possible to rekindle the flame?"
At the Q&A session, someone asked Leon how did he keep his skin looking so healthy. Leon passed that question to Faye. Because she was nervous, she uttered, "I don't take care of it. I was born with it."
In other news, <<American Idol>> ex-contestant William Hung accepted RTHK's phone interview. In the interview, he said his hairstyle is like his idol Leon Lai and even praised Leon by saying he's really handsome.
Leon doesn't agree but did say it's probably close to the hairstyle in <<Eighteen Springs>>. While going to school in England and his English wasn't good at the time, Leon had a miscommunication with the barber. He ended up with a skin head. Leon encourages William and hopes to listen to him singing.

--Promotion continues in TW. At the press conference, journalists requested Leon to hug Faye like in the posters for pictures. Leon's expression looked a little embarrassed. Leon said that the poses in the pictures are the director's orders. Photographing at the studio is more comfortable and natural. There's little romance and more nervous doing in front of the press.
After finishing with the movie's promotion, Leon will concentrate on his new album. He said there's no contract with Sony, but the relationship is still good. Leon's company (probably referring to Paciwood) will be producing the album and will see what happens with Sony from there. When asked how it felt returning to the recording studio again, Leon said he's been practicing and felt it was very painful.
At the premiere, two phone numbers containing Leon and Faye's birthdates were auctioned off for charity. A lot of fans bid, but for the sake of saving the fans' wallet it was sold at HK$30,000 respectively.

Q: Haven't released an album for a long time. What is your next project? How is the cooperation with Sony?
A: It's not so easy finishing <<LMLY>> in 1 year 2 months period. Next there are commercial contracts I need to return and then I will concentrate on a new album. Because I don't want distractions, I won't be scheduling any films. I will continue working with Mark Lui and he'll be the album's producer. We will decide which music to implement in the album.
Currently, I don't have a contract with Sony but our relationship is still good. From now on, my company will produce my albums. With Sony, we'll see if we can make a bigger spark.
Q: On the cover of the soundtrack, you and Faye hugged very tightly. Can you explain why at today's press conference you rejected the journalists request for the pose?
A: It was the director's order for that picture. From getting that natural relaxing feel during photoshoot is the media's catch. With so many people at the site, it's missing that romantic feel and nervousness sets in.
Q: Can you talk about <<LMLY>>'s filming process?
A: It took 4-5 months to finish the script. The start of filming was past year from 7/9 to 9/2. Filming was pretty big. One of it was filming night sceneries around Shanghai buildings. Able to get a permit, a helicopter was used to fly around for the filming. Post production on the film was spent on the visual effects which you can see the romantic colors. Although it's hard
to fulfill some things, I continued to strive close to success. Because the movie is in Mandarin, bosses' of cinemas in HK won't allow the film to be screened at all 40 cinemas. How can we speak Cantonese if the story takes place in Shanghai and the actors are mainlanders? So, the movie was placed in 10 cinemas that releases foreign films. After a month, the reaction is still good. It proves that I'm right.
Q: Can you talk about spending quality time promoting?
A: First, I have to thank Faye Wong. For the busy promotions around Asia, she gave up a part of her schedule to match the promotion schedule. We went from Beijing to Taiwan and other cities. 2/11 at Bejing, 2/12 at HK, 2/13 at Shanghai,
2/14 at ChengDu, 2/15 at GuangZhou. Other places included Malaysia and Thailand. Thank to all the cities for good sales. I don't hope piracy is better. On 2/15, I saw pirated copies in GuangZhou. I hope society have wakes up.
Q: Have you thought of being the commercial's director?
A: No, I think being the actor is more comfortable.
Q: Haven't released a Mandarin album for close 2 years, how does it feel to enter the recording studio again?
A: The past 4 days I've been practicing the songs. I felt it was painful.
Q: How did you find newcomers Ying Ji Yau and Ying Pei San?
A: Mark found them. They are siblings and they sung some demos occasionally. The younger brother is Nike's shoe designer.
Q: You understand today's music? Whose music do you like?
A: I feel Jolin's music sounds good and Jay is also good. I feel the entertainment is changing. Next album, I will focus on the production and will give everyone a surprise.
Q: You feel your complicated or not?
A: Time will tell if I'm complicated or not.
Q: There's news that you asked Faye to film the movie to get close to her. Is that true?
A: Don't have to. If I want to, I can just directly call her.

Ulasan: Saya hanya berkesempatan memiliki album ini pada tahun 1994, iaitu setelah 4 tahun album ini dikeluarkan. Pertama kali mendengar album ini, secara keseluruhannya memang tidak mengecewakan sungguhpun ia merupakan album pertama yg dikeluarkan oleh Leon. Sebelum mengeluarkan album berunsur pop ini, Leon sebenarnya pernah merakam beberapa buah lagu tema bagi drama2 lakonannya di bawah TVBI, namun tidak pernah dijual kepada umum dalam bentuk CD. Jadi, sewaktu mengeluarkan album di bawah Polygram ini, persembahan Leon di dalam album ini agak baik bagi seorang penyanyi baru.Terdapat sebanyak 3 buah lagu yang paling popular di dalam album ini, iaitu "Seung Fung Joy Yui Jung", "Mo Meng Fan Tik Long Man", dan "Cheng Si Ngo So Yau". Lagu2 ini kerap disampaikan oleh Leon setiap kali mengadakan konsertnya tidak lama dulu. Malah pernah menduduki carta lagu popular di Hong Kong serta mencalonkan Leon sebagai penyanyi baru pilihan. Apa yang menarik, lagu "Mo Meng Fan Tik Long Man" merupakan lagu cover version utk sebuah lagu Melayu ciptaan Juwie yang berjudul "Hangatnya Cinta" nyanyian Lyana yg agak popular sekitar akhir 80-an. Lagu ini telah diolah semula & diberi nafas baru oleh Leon mengikut gayanya yg tersendiri. Walaupun sekitar awal kemunculan Leon sebagai penyanyi dikritik hebat & digelar penyanyi yg menyanyi tak ikut not, namun setelah beberapa kali saya cuba mengamatinya, saya tak nampak apa yg mereka maksudkan dengan "menyanyi tak ikut not" kerana pada hemat saya persembahan Leon agak bagus, setaraf sebagai pendatang baru ketika itu. leon wah bukan main suka ko kat leon lai yer..aku tak terkecuali....well rasanya tak dapat leo n lai betul yang tipu pun jadilah...secara kebetulan hubby lin pun muka cam leon lai gak...masa kat sekolah dulu boleh dikatakan ramai gak yang minat ngan hubby lin ni...sebab muka dia ada iras2 leon lai...memula dia tak perasan pun dan tak amik pot pun pasal leon lai ni maklum le lelaki...biasanya pompuan je minat ngan leon lai ni...tapi at last sbb dah ramai yg cakap cam tu...dia pun apalagi suka lah kan...memula lin kawan biasa jer ngan dia dalam diam memang ada hati ngan dia..tapi lepas sekolah memasing buat haluan sendiri jumpa balik lepas graduate U..tup2 jumpa balik..lepas setahun kami kawin...

Eemmm.. saya suka Leon bukan sebab muka dier encem atau good looking. Dulu first time tengok dia kat majalah, rasa nyampah & meluat! Ulasan: Merupakan antara album yang paling mantap pada pendapat saya. Album ini sungguhpun secara majoritinya merupakan sebuah album Kantonis, namun Leon tidak lupa menghadiahkan 2 buah lagu bahasa Inggeris kepada peminat bukan Cinanya. Hampir kesemua lagu dicipta oleh key-produser Leon sendiri, iaitu Mark Lui Chung-tack, kecuali dua buah lagu klasik yang diberi nafas baru oleh Leon (Can't Take My Eyes Off U) dan (Fly Me To The Moon), serta dua buah lagu selebihnya menyaksikan Leon sendiri yang menjadi komposernya (One Minute Two World) dan (Brings Me Up). Salah sebuah lagu klasik Inggeris (Can't Take My Eyes Off U) telah digubah semula susunan muziknya oleh Mark Lui, manakala Leon menyanyikannya semula dalam dialek kantonis. Manakala bagi lagu (Fly Me To The Moon), mereka mengekalkan irama jazz asalnya, cuma lagu dirakam semula menggunakan instrument terkini oleh Anthony Fernandez. Untuk lagu ini, Leon mnggunakan bahasa Inggeris sepenuhnya mengikut lirik versi asal. Mark Lui telah menerapkan ciri-ciri pop-techno ke atas 3 buah lagu kantonis di track 3, 4, dan 5, manakala lagu-lagu selebihnya Mark masih mengekalkan konsep Leon sebagai penyanyi pop-sentimental dan pop-ballad. Lagu (Mi-II) merupakan lagu irama rock + rap ciptaan & gubahan Mark Lui sendiri dan telah mendapat penghormatan pengeluar album OST filem Inggeris "Mission Impossible 2" sebagai salah sebuah lagu OST filem tersebut dalam versi Cina. Bagi OST filem kantonis lakonan Leon "Sausalito", terdapat 2 versi lagu yang dimuatkan di dalam album ini, iaitu versi kantonisnya (Hug In Time), manakala versi Inggerisnya mengambil tajuk asal filem (Sausalito). Album ini juga memuatkan sebanyak 2 buah interlude serta 2 buah lagu instrumental (Room 201) dan (Sausalito). Album ini didatangkan dengan sebuah vcd percuma sebagai hadiah kepada pembeli CD ini. Terdapat sebanyak 3 buah mtv yang dimuatkan, di mana kesemua mtv ini diarahkan sendiri oleh Leon. Selain mtv, terdapat juga rakaman di sebalik tabir mtv (One Minute Two World) yang juga digunakan sebagai lagu tema iklan motorsikal nasional negara China yang pertama ~ Haojue, di mana iklan ini juga Leon diberi tanggungjawab sebagai pengarahnya. Bagi CD audio, selain memuatkan sebanyak 16 track lagu, ia juga berfungsi sebagai CD-Rom kerana para pembeli CD ini dihadiahkan dengan Screensaver Leon Lai yang boleh dimuat turun secara terus ke PC. Secara keseluruhannya, album ini amat menepati citarasa penggemar muzik yang pelbagai & ternyata antara album Leon yang paling mantap & istimewa yang pernah dikeluarkan. Saya memberikan rating 4.5 / 5 untuk album ini. |

memang Lin jaga..insyaallah sampai ke tuo gitu... tapi yang untungnya hubby Lin ni jenis yang tak gatal mcm sesetengah lelaki tu...(harap2 sampai bila2)...
berbalik pasal leon lai yang tulen tu ...:ting: nak tanya kat leon, ada tak dia buat album berkenaan dengan lagu tema filem atau drama dia yang dolu2 tu...sebab Lin pernah pergi survey kat kedai dan tanya pasal lagu kat dalam drama breaking point tu...siap nyanyi lagi kat depan amoi tu...(tapi nyanyi dalam version Lin sendiri...lol:lol ntah apa2) sampaikan si amaoi tu gelak bila dengar Lin nyanyi...:malu:
