The diamond in Kristine Hermosa's finger has fanned rumor that she and Diether Ocampo are getting married soon. Here's the story behind the controversial ring.
The romance that was born on the set of a soap (Sana'y wala nang Wakas) has been courting wild talks lately. Rarely seen apart, Diether Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa shop together, buy things in pairs, call each other "honey," and unashamedly display their affection for each other in public. At the last Star Awards (for Sana'y), Kristine was Diet's one-woman cheering squad. While shooting for Bcuz of U (their first big screen pairing), everyone on the set attests to the fact that the two wait for each other until Kristine has finished her loops or until Diether is done with his shots. " They wait for each other . They come and leave together." says Director John-D Lazatin in an interview.
All these have escalated into the growing speculation that the two are already engaged and that a wedding date is already in the works. Especially now that Kristine is sporting a new diamond on her hand, encrusted in between two bands, one gold, one bronze.
"No, we're not engaged," Diether tells StarStudio in early November. "We're more than that. We are taking care of each other, guess it's but normal for people to expect that. But we want to take our time., we're more motivated to work harder.to make good our respective careers."
While the couple is hesitant to go into detail about the ring, when pressed by StarStudio last October 13, Diether says to SMS, "It's just a fancy thing we got for each other, "coz we acquire things in pairs." Earlier in the day, in one of the dressing rooms at ABSCBN, he told us, "She gave me a ring (a band). I gave her one also. It symbolizes our ONENESS. He bought the controversial ring from Mexico. Diether was in Mexico this year for a vacation with his Mom. The relationship Kristine describes as a fairy-tale-come-true ("He's the one," she told the Buzz last November 14 when asked if she has found Mr. Right in Diether) may appear easy and relaxed but it is not totally rumor-free. Reports have it that Tin's family doesn't exactly approve of Diet, citing that Kristine has turned somewhat "rebellious" because of her involvement with the latter. "It's just hear say " Diet dismisses. "I wonder what else they (the press) can come up with.
Diet and Tin would rather talk about how the magic that started in Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas has still not waned. "We never even planned it pero naging ideal. It just happened on its own.. Along the way, we got to discover new things."
Although both are self-confessed shopaholics, Diet accuses Tin of being the guiltier party. "We prefer Rockwell and Greenbelt3. We shop during the dead hours. Eto (Kristine) and sobrang mag shopping talaga. "My credit card is getting already coz of constant swiping (meaning he gets to spend a lot when they shop " Diet smiles. Without putting up a fight, Kristine readily pleads guilty, " I think he does not like to swipe his credit ared anymore , eh."
Love for food is also something they have in common. One of their latest discoveries is a seafood restaurant along Pasay Road in Makati. They don't recall its name but not the bill they had had to settle. "We paid P6,000 plus. Ang sarap ng pagkain. Lobster, crabs, oysters, abalone. They wer big , they're the size of a palm," Diet recounts.
" She(krsitine) eats more than me. I mean, when it comes to eating, this girl has the appetite." Tin seconds with a giggle, " Im getting constipated from eating .Its good that its not obvious because I dont get fat . The Press conference of Kristine's upcoming movie ( fantasy comedy ) BUT Kristine did not attend this . The reason that was given is that she is sick . This could further escalate the belief that she is trully married already and intentionally not attended the presscon to avoid answering quetions that the press people would throw at her regarding this matter . |

Yes, what you抳e been hearing and reading about is true: Kristine Hermosa and Diether "Diet" Ocampo did get married in civil rites last Sept. 22 in Jaen, Nueva Ecija, the same town where Rudy Fernandez and Lorna Tolentino also got secretly married years back.
"The couple is now planning for their church wedding early next year," somebody close to Diet told Funfare.
The DPA added that Diet and Kristine have actually been living together "for a few months" now at a rented place in New Manila, just near the home of Kristine抯 parents. Diet, an unwed father, has his own townhouse in the Scout Area, Quezon City. "But he hardly comes home now," said the DPA.
The couple抯 civil wedding came so suddenly that it caught even the couple抯 respective families off-guard.
