Villa miss out on UEFA Cup through Fair Play draw

Aston Villa have missed out on a place in next season's UEFA Cup following the Fair Play draw.

Martin O'Neill's side had the second best disciplinary record in the Barclays Premiership and were hoping to be rewarded with a place in the first qualifying round for next season's UEFA Cup.

Tottenham, who had a better record in England, qualified through their fifth-place league finish for the UEFA Cup.

Ten nations including England and Wales were in today's draw, and the two picked out at the ceremony in Glasgow were Finland and Norway, who will both enter clubs.

Sweden, who finished top of the UEFA Fair Play table, were automatically given the right to enter a team in the qualifiers.

DAVID NUGENT admits a transfer to Everton would be his dream move.

The Preston and England striker is expected to leave Deepdale this summer after the club failed to make the play-offs.

Nugent, 22, said: "I抳e been linked with them since I was first at Preston.

"I抎 love to join Everton, the club I supported as a boy and wanted to play for. But I抦 still young and could have 15 years left in football.

"It could happen eventually. I抦 not sure where my future lies, we抣l have to wait and see."

Nugent is in the squad for the England B international against Albania on May 25. along with Michael Owen.

He said: "It might ruin my chances but you want the best for the team and he is the best striker around when fully fit. It抯 great to see him back playing again."
