Nishikido Ryo Fights with a Brain Tumor... as the lead actor in Nihon Television's 24 hour television special drama
It's been announced on the 5th that Nishikido Ryo (24) member of the popular idol group NEWS will play the lead role in the drama "Niini no koto wo wasurenaide (Please don’t forget Niini” to air during the evening of August 29th's "24 hour television 32 Love will save the world" on Nihon Television. It's the story of a young man who fights against a brain tumor for 8 years before passing away at the age of 23.
The story is that of "Niini" who discovered he had brain cancer at age 15 and who passed away at the young age of 23. He's violent against Kuroki Hitomi (48) who plays his mother, and paints the grand story of a family up against death.
The drama is based on the book by Kawakami Masumi-san "Niini no koto wo wasurenaide - An 8 year fight with a brain tumor-", who's beloved son fought against a brain tumor discovered at 15 until he passed away at the young age of 23.
Nishikido acts as Kawai Keisuke, who was accomplished in school from a young age and aspired to be a physicist and had successfully made it into the competitive schools that lead to Tokyo University later on in schooling. He was the star of his family but during his third year of middle school they discovered there was a tumor in his brain, and because of that it was believed he had but one year left to live.
His dreams for the future and his blossoming love were snatched away by the illness and Keisuke falls into despair- giving up on treatment in the belied "I'm going to die anyway, so what does it matter! Why was I even born!". He even raises a fist against the person closest to him- his mother, and screams out in bitterness.
The producer explains "Rather than just the story of a child and mother's three legged race against an illness, this is the heroic story of a family's fight against illness". As for Nishikido, he played a man who committed DV against his girlfriend in last year's Fuji Television drama "Last Friends" but this time he'll be raising a fist against Kuroki.
The drama began filming a few days ago and they filmed a scene where Nishikido's character Keisuke goes to get a tour of the university he hopes to go to, Tokyo University. It's a difficult scene where he collapses from cramps while wearing his high school uniform. Having read the original book, Nishikido comments "I will do my best to convey to everyone the happiness of being alive today. Everyone takes for granted they'll be alive tomorrow and that their family, friends and lovers will be too".
Kuroki, who plays a mother who continues to help her son even when submitted to violence, also says "This drama means a lot to me, not only as an actress in a 24 hour television drama, but as a mother, and as a human. I hope to act this in a way I can expand my own life and love".
Yamada Ryosuke.... Hey!Say!JUMP's Yamada Ryosuke (16) will play Keisuke's brother who's 4 years younger than him, Yuuji. That his beloved brother "Niini" falls into despair from illness hurts Yuuji but he continues to chase after his brother who's gone off to college. Other actors include Shirakawa Yumi (72) who acts as the grandmother who supports Keisuke and Jinnai Takanori (50) who acts as the father.
It's been announced that Nishikido Ryo of the popular idol group NEWS will be the lead actor in the drama to be aired during Nihon Televisions 24 hour TV on the evening of August 29th, "Niini no koto wo wasurenaide". The story is that of a boy who finds out he has a brain tumor at age 15 and leaves this world at the young age of 23. The drama tells the story of the great love of those around "Niini", Kawai Keisuke, as he goes through this. Playing "Niini" who faces death during his youth when most people usually are full of hope, Nishikido comments "I will do my best so that people who normally take their family, friends and lovers for granted and assume there will always be a tomorrow can come to realize the happiness of being alive today". The mother is acted by Kuroki Hitomi and the father will be played by Jinnai Takanori.

In the latest TV Life (No. 13, released 10th June), there are pictures (a 2 shot of “dark” Takki & “angel” Ryo) of the poster shoot for Orthros no Inu.
Takki is wearing all black, and his hair might be black (or slightly brown - hard to tell from the image due to the lighting).
Same goes for this week’s TV Guide, except next week, Takki and Ryo will apparently be on the cover and there will be an article about one of the scenes (”a politician’s lecture at a Diet conference”)!
In TV Life No. 14 (released 24th June), there will also be a Takki interview.
