Thierry Henry will lead Arsenal out at Ashburton Grove next season after agreeing a new deal worth a staggering £130,000 a week.
The Arsenal striker met vice-chairman David Dein and manager Arsene Wenger last night and he has agreed to stay in north London for another four years.
It is a massive lift for the club following their defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League final on Wednesday.
Henry, who has been courted by Barcelona for the past year, believes he can fulfil his ambitions at Arsenal and is determined to win the European Cup with the club.
Although he has still not signed the four-year contract, it is a formality after more than three hours of talks with Dein and Wenger last night.
Sources close to Henry, 28, had indicated before the Champions League final that he was likely to stay at the club. He has agonised for more than a year over the decision, but his commitment to Arsenal is now unquestioned.
The France striker is expected to confirm today that he will be staying and will give his reasons before he joins his national squad in Clairefontaine on Sunday.

It is the news Arsenal supporters have been waiting for after a period of uncertainty, but he dropped massive hints on the flight home from Paris on Wednesday night.
Despite the disappointment of their 2-1 defeat by the Spanish champions, an emotional Henry spoke over the aircraft's public address system of returning to win the Champions League Final with Arsenal.
He told close friends several times during the season that he dreamed of leading the Gunners out as skipper in their first season at Ashburton Grove. Now he has effectively decided to stay with the club for the rest of his career.
Henry joined Arsenal from Juventus for £10.5million in 1999. He has scored a club record 164 League goals in 237 appearances, eclipsing the record of Ian Wright, and is widely recognised as the best player in the Premiership.
He is settled in north London with his wife Nicole and daughter Te, and that has also played a key part in his decision.
