LBH, with his generous smile and dashing looks that have not changed since his debut in the entertainment world with the '91 KBS drama Asphalt, My Hometown, is not only 'Top Star,' but also fit to be called 'Peter Pan.'
LBH has proven his ability as "Top Star" through his performance in the movie Three Monster (Director: Park Chan Wook / Produced by Spring "Bom" Movie Company) which premiered on the 20th. After starring in the movie Everyone Has a Secret as the most perfect man on earth, he returns in Three Monster. In the movie, he not only gives an excellent interpretation of his role, but also seems to refute the theory of good and evil by revealing the extreme cruelty that exists within a person.
LBH - His Endless Transformations
He is a professional. In the recent romantic comedy movie Everyone Has a Secret, he was a charming man, but in his first horror movie challenge Three Monster, he was a man with very real human qualities.
"I have never thought of the horror genre as I have always been concerned whether I would be convincing in a scary role. However, I believe that as much as people have high expectations of me, I should also meet those expectations and keep on pushing myself. I plan to continue my acting career as long as there are people who want to see my acting. If an opportunity comes along, I plan to go abroad to study movie production."
He agreed to star in this movie due to his affinity with Director Park Chan Wook, who is the director, especially since they would be working again for the first time in 5 years since the movie JSA.

He appears as a hotel manager, the cool, sharp and alert right-hand man of a triad boss in the movie, and gets involved in a thrilling love relationship with his boss' lover, a cellist (Shin Min-A).
In order to prepare for his role as a triad member, he is now building up his physique intensively. He is busy training in martial arts and physical flexibility in an action school located in Daebang-dong, Seoul.
"I have lost so much weight recently. My face is definitely different when you compare before and after I entered the school."
Everyone is looking forward to seeing him in the new challenge he has undertaken in The Sweet Life.

2001: Beautiful man LBH in Paris
His eyes, His smile
In the city of freedom and romance, we could meet LBH. A thrilling excitement from strange place made his eyes free and comfortable. There, he could unburden himself of Minchul's character in Beautiful Days and went back to what he is as an ordinary man.
The moment he shines
He looks like a child full of curious. He responds everything promptly. He keeps open his eyes and ears to be seen and heard. Seeing him asking the meaning and pronunciation of normal French signboard at the backstreets, His accurate acting - reading the line, his glittering eyes - can't be achieved easily. He DOES is an ACTOR. He started his career as TV talent and finally for the long time he became an actor. Now it is very natural to say him as an actor, but in old days he also had a time to be described as "tough guy" or "handsome boy". We forced him to act only toughness or rebellious. We locked him up as, so his acting hasn't changed; what changed is our view of looking him as an actor. Nothing was changed. He always is a good actor serious to his role and tries to his best since he was a new-face.
Like a magic, mesmerized to Minchul..
LBH, he lived up more than 2 months absorbed in Minchul without thinking. Saying his acting is getting in ripe is insufficient to his art of act. His eyes after he came out from Minchul's charisma looks exhausted. Beautiful Days surely was a good work and did great role to sore up his popularity in a way but for himself, it was a boring marathon wasting his energy and unprepared without knowing the end. He was accustomed to the condition that he pulls out his emotions and immersing the character and shoot films during the 2movies - Bungee Jump and JSA. Therefore broadcasting system-scripts for the nights' scene at the morning by fax, taking pictures without time absorbing the character or analyzing each scene maybe the difficult work for him. Everybody applauded his action praising no more charisma but he thought it was not enough because he couldn't feel he did his best for 3months. We can see his desire for his acting. Anyway, we also want him to feel Minchul's character more deeply.
A step back until he feels comfortable
Up to now he has reviewed 45 scenarios. Shrewd producers can't be missed the box office maker based on the acting like him. The fact to cast him is the guarantee the public success. Of course we all are curious of his next work but right now we have to wait for him. We don't want to push him another character right after he came out from the character. Our desire to see him soon will tie him up breathless. His continous acting by our force will do harm and going bad both of him and ours. We want him time and rest. He told he was like reborn after the drama was over. It caught my ears. Showing and making some characters without preparation is so shamed thing for him and that must have made him hard. Anyway, for the time being, we can't escape from Minchul's charisma... He was too PERFECT,,, His other attractiveness-charming smile with white teeth, his eloquence with wit, his sense of humour and other talents.
Balancing the popularity and acting is such a difficult thing like harmony normality with speciality. For the actor, mixing 2 things up is a hard job. So his recent popularity can be more precious. His somewhat oily lines and watery eyes, these were enough us to crush on him and Minchul. He did the role perfectly and we could confuse him with Minchul. We and BH all admitted that we can't forget his charming intelligent character. That would make him more pressured but his acting was great. |

Free from the travel
Although 90% of his travels are for filming but he enjoys it. His travel plan is not so sophisticated. Just enjoy the feeling of free and seize the time. He just opens new experience and enjoys the small excitement from that. All he carries is sunglasses and a small bag.
His stubbornness
The same perfume for 10years tells his stubbornness. It's not a feeling of refusement to new things, it's more likely the stubborn not to take off his old things. Maybe he has make his own rules. Anyway he is doing the same job for 10years, the most difficult job.."acting".
The expectation and reliability for him
In Paris, far from Seoul for 11hours of flight, he was not free even in this strange place. Everywhere he goes, his fans were there recognized him. He went to Paris to feel free but the eyes for him didn't allow him. He could refuse it but he always met his fans with smile. Thanks to the movie JSA which are now releasing in Japan, some Japanese were among the fans. That is a good scene because hi was at the stardom in Japan also and we were glad to see that. For the actor LBH, Korea is small. Actually he attracted already some Asian countries. Before he visited to Paris, he had a meeting with Chinese director "Tang" and another director "Wang" requested to have a meeting. They must have also seen something special to his glittering eyes. However the seduction of "International" doesn't seem to affect him to select any work. If he regards it important, he couldn't act like that. He prefers the word "good actor" rather than "star" or "popular". Assuming he doesn't come to any talk show or interview, he knows the way to last as an actor. Anyway, he will decide his territory in a near future whether it is international or domestic. But one thing is clear; Reliability of Actor LBH doesn't change.

smalam masa saya bukak tv2 dalam kul 11.30 pagi, ada citer korea..wah, rasa cam tak sangka...kiranya petition yang kita buat dah di ambil perhatian oleh pihak rtm la yer...saya tak tau la saya ni outdated ke updated ke...sebab tue la first time saya tgk...tak tau dah episod berapa...nampak cam citer korea lama...pelakon tak kenal sgt...tapi tue la...masa die tak kena langsung..kul 11 pg sampai 12 tgh...ada sesape dah tgk citer nih? |

Jumping Up Step By Step
Born on July 12th, 1970, Byung Hun Lee officially entered the world of acting through 14th annual public audition held by Korea Broadcast System (KBS) in 1991. After graduating from Hanyang University majoring in French Literature, he continued his studies at the Graduate School of Joongang University, majoring in Theater and Cinematography. Having appeared in several TV dramas, he made his screen debut in 1995. However, he only gains the present recognition that he so longed for, as being 'an actor' in the truest sense of the word, only after experiencing quite a few failures in the box-office. Steadily walking down the road he has chosen, without haste and solely relying on his passion for acting alone, has led him to the recognition that he enjoys today.
An Actor Who Progresses Slowly
Byung Hun Lee, is not an actor who has walked the so-called fast and easy road. While harboring dreams to be an actor, he experienced considerable disappointments and frustrations because of the realities that contradicted his dreams, and so he has also become an entertainer who learned to adapt to the realities. For now, his role as an entertainer for the public will have to continue for some time (although no one knows for how long).
However, this young actor with unyielding faith, stubbornly adhering to the road of 'an actor', led the audience to see the 'Byung Hun Lee' who continues to become stronger and more refined as 'depth' called 'time' is added.
Acting that is Unique Only to Byung Hun Lee
Even until recently, the roles that Lee projected on screen, were mostly that of pure or strong spirited young man, which he continued (?) appeal from the time of his debut. However, the audience expected 'something different' from him, and was not attracted by Lee who demonstrated qualities that could easily be found in other actors. In "Bungee Jumping of Their Own" ...Byung Hun Lee had to play the role of middle-aged 'In-Woo Suh', who had to endure in his heart the confusing and desperate 'present', rather than a 'past' filled with innocence of youth. This role finally stamped him as a true 'actor' in the hearts of the audience. 'In-Woo Suh' was someone who could not be expressed by anyone else other than Byung Hun Lee. |

Have You Seen Byung Hun Lee, The Actor?
Actors are said to create their own face through passage of time. A face created by the time he has passed and that he will pass, slowly. When we look back, nothing changes more drastically than the face of an actor. In this sense, 'time' can be a fatal 'poison' to actors but to those who continuously anguish over their acting ability, time can add 'depth' that they long for so much.
In this aspect, Lee is one of the few who has gained 'depth' through time. And finally, the audience has started to focus on this actor who has slowly been refined with time. As if this was only meant to be.
Some people say, without hesitation, that Byung Hun Lee has an uncanny talent of character expression that is difficult to find in other actors his age. Happily surprised by the unlimited possibilities of this young actor who demonstrates his versatile spirit on screen, they regret that they did not pay attention to this 'actor' in the 'past' and do not spare any praises for him. They also add that they were able to reflect upon the significance of 'passage of time' that seems to be the essential element for creating a true actor.
Hoping He Remains a Movie Actor
Byung Hun Lee himself has said that he wants to be called a 'movie actor'. However, going a step further, we do not wish for him to just remain as 'one of many actors'. Even though he is one of the many, there is only one 'Byung Hun Lee, the actor'.
He is still an incomplete actor, and is an actor endlessly trying to perfect his talents. However, as he has learnt 'self-control' and 'wisdom' through time, we hope that he will show the audience 'that something' which he will learn through time in the future.
As a final note, like my mother who boasts about the movies of Anthony Quinn, who provided her with so much enjoyment in her memories, I hope that, many days later, I will also be able to reminiscence that I lived in the same time frame and same space with an actor named Byung Hun Lee and about how I felt the beauty and pain of existence, happiness and tragedies of life, joys and pains of love, together with his movies.
I have confirmed the possibilities of a great actor that will shine forever, sealed in time.

Memang ada cerita baru di TV2, tajuknya PERFECT LOVE (SBS 2003). Another favourite actor of mine....Cha In Pyo. He won Best Actor for the drama, kalahkan LBH in All In. But in return, BH menang "Grand Acting Award" in the same ceremony.

9/3/04 - Choi Ji Woo signed two CF contracts in Japan on 9/2. One of the CFs is for "New V Rohto EX" Eye-drops and the other is for "Obagi" Cosmetics. On the same day, she completed the filming of these CFs. The CFs are scheduled to be aired in Japan in October and November respectively.

NEWS: CHOI JI WOO
10/20/04 - The Cyber Investigation Unit of Kangnam police station arrested a 40's housewife who has been using the same ID in various websites attacking Choi Ji Woo for about 1 year. This woman Mrs. A, who has 3 children, has been spreading false news, criticisms, curses, and sexual assaults on CJW. In September, CJW's agency Sidus asked the police to conduct investigation on this matter. After this woman was arrested, she apologized in tears and stated, "I didn't know that I would cause great damage to CJW"; she hoped that the agency would forgive her. Although Sidus forgave this woman, its representative Jang Jin Wook states, 'We would accommodate proper criticisms on an actor's performance; however, for those people who spread rumors, we will still take forceful measures."

10/19/04 - Ryu Shi Won's new music album is at the 1st place on the sale chart of Japan HMV which operates world-wide music CD chain stores. Ryu Shi Won attracts great attentions in Japan because his drama "Beautiful Days" is aired by NHK, and another drama "Truth" is scheduled to be aired by Nohon TV on 10/28. His other dramas including "Secret", "She is Cool", and "Sunshine" are also broadcasted via satellite in Japan.

News in brief (edit) : LBH and CJW has signed an agreement with the Japanese Airport and has left secretly for Japan before 27th October for the movie EHAS promotion appearance. For the public safety as well as the artists, the Japanese Airport has requested their Management not to publicise the arrival details of LBH and CJW. This is in anticipation of huge turnout of fans from both sides.
They are confirmed only leaving for Tokyo on 27.10.04. News was leaked out to media in Japan, hence, the management had agreed to keep mum about their arrival time and flight details. Both will exit from Narita airport at a special exit amidst tight security.
