Korea’s Top Female Idols with Eye-Smiles

Yesterday, we reported the male baby-faced beasts of Korea, and today Nate is taking a look at girls who have perfect eye smiles. If you haven’t heard of this term before, it’s the crescent shape that an eye curves into when a person smiles. In Korea, guys tend to love girls who smile this way. So which girls have the best eye smiles?

1. SNSD’s Tiffany

When SNSD first debuted, Tiffany was immediately loved by many as she became known as ‘that girl with the eye smile’ on variety programs. Her smile was so well known that when she was asked to show off a talent on a show, she would just smile and the guys would melt.

SNSD’s Oh! takes over Asia

SNSD has been taking over the music charts in Korea with Run Devil Run these days but it seems like Oh! is not ready to be done with. Even though they finished promotions for Oh! quite awhile ago, the song has been taking the #1 spots on music charts all over Asia in countries such as Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines.

In Thailand, SNSD’s second album Oh! was on music charts such as B2S TOP20, GRAM ASIAN POP TOP10, Thailand MTV International Chart, Channel V Countdown Asian Chart and more. In Channel V Countdown Asian Chart, they held the #1 spot for three weeks straight in March.

In Taiwan, they rose on charts like G-MUSIC, FIVE MUSIC, Kuang nan, hit FM, iradio, KISS radio and more. They even took the #1 spot on an online music site, KKBOX.

Finally in the Philippines, they were #1 for two weeks straight.

Even though most of this happened in March, the news has arrived now because the popularity of Oh! is dying out just about now.

SNSD wins Music Bank K-Chart with Run Devil Run

Due to the naval ship tragedy which prompted the cancellation of many programs last week, including KBS2TV’s Music Bank on April 2nd, fans were unable to witness the announcement of the K-Chart winner for last week.

The belated announcement of the winner for last week’s K-Chart was made on April 5th through Music Bank’s official website which put SNSD as the overwhelming winner with a total of 21,223 points, which was 3x more than KARA (7341 points) and 2AM (6,989 points) who claimed second and third spot respectively.

This was SNSD’s first win for their new song, Run Devil Run and their 6th K-Chart win in 2010, following 5 straight wins for their previous single, Oh!.

Can SNSD follow up this week with another win? Stay tuned on April 9th!
