KUALA LUMPUR: The panel examining the authenticity of the "Lingam" video clip may have sent separate reports, but there was a common thread -- all members agreed that the matter should be investigated by a royal commission of inquiry.:2cool: :2cool: :2cool: :2cool: :re: :re: :re: :re:

The New Straits Times learnt yesterday that the panel had concluded that the video clip featuring senior lawyer V.K. Lingam was authentic and that the issue warranted further investigation.

The proposal is likely to be lauded by the Malaysian Bar, which recommended that a royal commission be set up to investigate the clip.

The clip allegedly showed Lingam brokering judicial appointments with a senior member of the judiciary.

The final decision on the panel's findings will be decided by the cabinet next week.
