Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he welcomed the decision to appoint Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) adviser effective April 1.
"Abdullah is eligible to be appointed as the oil and gas company adviser as he was once a prime minister.
"I am confident he can be a good adviser to Petronas and hope he can lead the company." he said at a press conference at Perdana Leadership Foundation, today.
The Cabinet has endorsed the appointment of Abdullah as Petronas adviser, replacing Dr Mahathir, whose service was terminated on March 11.
