Carrick eyes title dominance 
Michael Carrick believes Manchester United must prove they are a "great team" by continuing to win the Premier League year after year.
The defending champions have opened up a five-point lead over second placed Chelsea and are hoping to seal back-to-back titles for the first time since they won the league three seasons in a row from 1999-2001.
Proving a hard man to please, Carrick revealed success this season is just the start of what he wants to achieve in United colours.
"Winning the league again really proves what a good team you are," Carrick told the Daily Mirror.
History
"To win it on a one-off is a great achievement in itself, but if you can go two or maybe three years on the bounce then you are talking great teams.
"To win the Champions League is a dream and we're giving everything we can to do that, but to win the league twice is what great teams are made of.
"For winning the Champions League you go down in history and people remember you that little bit more, but for me the league is still very strong."
With the visit of Arsenal and a trip to Chelsea still awaiting Carrick and his team-mates - the England international can be forgiven for believing the title race is far from over.
Anything can happen
"With ourselves, Chelsea and Arsenal being pretty close, I can't really see one team pulling away," said Carrick.
"Sometimes, if there are just two teams involved, then one can falter easily enough and all of a sudden there becomes a gap.
"We've seen over the last four weeks that it's been up and down and that anything can happen, but I'm sure it will be tight.
"Chelsea are looking very strong so we can't count them out of it. What's going to be important are the matches when we play each other.
"Obviously, Arsenal coming up here and us going down to Chelsea are huge factors in where the league goes."

Chelsea accuse Premier League of handing United title advantage 
Chelsea have accused the football authorities of handing their title rivals an advantage after it was decided to move their fixture with Everton forward by two days.
Chelsea issued a statement on their official website insisting the decision, taken for television purposes, undermines the integrity of the competition.
Chelsea's statement read: "Chelsea is extremely disappointed with the announcement today regarding the Everton fixture. "We believe the decision to hold the match on Thursday April 17 undermines the sporting integrity of the competition by giving our rivals for the Premier League title an unnecessary competitive advantage at a critical time of the season, with more recovery time from their previous match and preparation time for their next fixture when we have to play two games during the same period. "Secondly there has been no consideration given to our fans who will be presented with serious travel, work and other issues. "And lastly, the decision sets a dangerous precedent in changing match days still further when fixture congestion does not exist and when a sensible solution regarding other television matches that weekend was suggested. "Football has benefited greatly from the backing of television and Chelsea as much as anyone else. However this decision is one step too far and we reserve all rights on our position."
