Manchester United could be set to lose Javier Hernandez, with reports suggesting that the striker wants to quit the club this month.
According to The Sun, the Mexican international is tired of a lack of first-team action with the Red Devils and is fearful of the impact that could have with the World Cup in Brazil quickly approaching.
The same reports further suggest that Hernandez is hopeful that Juan Mata's impending move from Chelsea to Manchester United will clear the path for him to move on before the end of the current transfer window.
25-year-old Hernandez - who is reportedly rated at around the £15 million mark - joined Manchester United form Mexican outfit Guadalajara during the summer of 2010 is a popular character among supports a Old Trafford, yet despite this, he has never quite managed to establish himself as a regular starter under either Sir Alex Ferguson or current boss David Moyes.
More known for his heroics coming off the substitute's bench, Hernandez hasn't even fared particularly well from that standpoint this season and his wretched performance in Wednesday night's morale-sapping penalty shootout loss to Sunderland in the second-leg of Manchester United's Capital One Cup semi-final was the latest in a string of disappointing displays.
Despite his mediocre performances, however, it surely has to be deemed unlikely that Moyes will want to risk losing Hernandez during the current month - particularly with the fact that first-choice frontmen Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie have been forced to watch on from the sidelines recently through injury.
With just two goals to his name in 14 Premier League appearances, however, it might be in the player's best interest for Manchester United to allow him to seek pastures new.
