just beware of taxi cermin gelap+takde driver's code number (ade 4 nombor. contoh mcm 6609, or 2189, lebih kurang gitu laa)+takde sticker meter kat dashboard. |

Salam semua. Ni saya nak share tips mendapat taxi di HCMC yang saya dapat dari internet. Mudah-mudahan bermanfaaat utk sesape yang hendak ke HCMC
Vinasun ☎ +84 8 3827 2727 and Mai Linh are the largest fleets in the city and reliably honest, with meters that start automatically after the car has moved about 5 m. Recommend to use taxi Vinasun or Mai Linh.
The fare from the airport to the city should range from 85,000 to 140,000 dong (not including airport tax) depending on time of day and exactly where you are going.. From airport to district 1 (downtown), the metered taxi fare is generally around 100,000 dong and plus a toll fee of 5,000 dong.
(Mai Linh wardens are in green shirt green tie, Vinasun warden are in dark green shirt maroon tie), and they will radio the taxi for you. Major taxi companies are fairly honest, but if you want to avoid all stress, you could simply buy a "taxi coupon" at one of the counters after the custom declaration and x-ray at international airport terminal, next to the exchange counter.
Be cautious of taxis which resemble the above mentioned reputable companies, yet are actually scam artists. A lot of gangster taxis exist and some very closely copy names and markings of the more reputable taxi companies with very minor differences, e.g. VinasOn or VinasuM instead of VinaSUN, MEi Linh or Mai Lin or M Taxi instead of Mai Linh)
Caution; there are some taxis mimicking VinaSUN, even copying their phone number (written as 38 27 27 27) but omitting the prefix, that have meters that run three times as fast. This one is VinaMET. Also the same scam is going on with copiers of Mai LINH. Do not use these scammers.
Watch out for taxi touts who also dress in white shirt uniforms and brandish laminated "fixed prices" cards at 4,400,000 dong per car to the city hotels. They will be prepared to drop the price to 2,600,000 dong but it is still a rip-off. Ignore them, and stick to the metered taxis.

Taxis to avoid
Visitors should generally avoid off-brand taxis, such as "Taxi-Meter" or "VinaMet", which often have fast meters and charge 2-3 the competitive rate. (A few of the off-brand taxis are honest independent drivers who offer the lowest rates in town, but only experienced locals can make that judgment.) Be especially watchful for Vinasun and Mai Linh mimics, such as Vinason or Vinasum instead of Vinasun, or Mei Linh or Mai Lin or M Taxi instead of Mai Linh. Sometimes the fakes will display phone numbers very similar to Vinasun or Mai Linh, but with a different prefix or other minor variation.
Saigon Tourist, mostly silver with pink trim and flower emblem. Their meter rates are reportedly competitive if they agree to use the meter, but they are notorious for refusing in the case of foreigners, especially picked up anywhere near a hotel. Drivers might require payment in dollars or quote fixed prices that are double the meter rate or more. Saigon Tourist taxis cluster around some of the larger, upscale hotels in the central city (Caravelle, Sheraton, Park Hyatt, New World) and hotel staff won't hesitate to put you in one of these tourist trap taxis unless you specifically ask for a different brand.
Saigon Air Taxi mostly white Isuzu SUVs. Their meter rates are also reportedly competitive.

tadi call Antam Hotel, Hcm request airport shuttle sebab sampai hcm masa tu dah malam, dalam pukul 9 malam. since berdua je, dua-dua pun perempuan, so macam takut plak kan nak amek Vinasun ke ape2 ke. so, anyone yang duduk dekat Antam Hotel recently, betul ke memang Antam Hotel dah takde Airport shuttle? sebab aritu baca thread ada cakap ada airport transfer pakai Honda ek, 8USD.
