I will be very surprised if Lee Byung-Hun does not get the best actor prize in Korea this year. The transition from the real king to the impostor/actor was absolutely amazing (to say the least) making it easy to know which was which; very important in my ability to follow the story as it unfolded. The only confusion I felt was which high government official was which - all the way through the movie, the only way to figure out who was whom was if they "stepped out" when the king called on them; they all had the same clothing, hat, beard, mannerism (I do realize that this is how it was back then but still I kept asking myself, "now, who the heck is this nut?")
Overall, it was a wonderful movie with high production value that I thoroughly enjoyed. It could have used better editing about 15 minutes from the end of the movie tho - it dragged a bit where the lighting was way off - the reason for a 9 out of 10.
It’s been belatedly reported that actress Lee Min Jung went with boyfriend Lee Byung Hun to attend his younger sister’s restaurant opening ceremony, which is located in Yongin, Gyeonggido.
On December 7, a representative from her entertainment agency shared with StarNews, “Because this is a private matter, she didn’t share with the agency about it.”
The representative continued, “It’s only natural that a person attends a lover’s young sister’s opening ceremony for her new business. She [Lee Min Jung] went to congratulate her. We know that both Lee Min Jung and Lee Byung Hun’s mothers meet often. They’re doing fine in their relationship.”
The couple have confirmed their relationship on their respective home pages this past August 19 and are still going strong.

Will actor Lee Byung Hun spend Christmas and the end of the year with his lover?
Lee Byung Hun who was in London for the movie "Red 2" returned to Korea on the 10th. Busy with 3 movies this year, Lee Byeong-Heon will be spending the rest of the month in Korea with his family and girlfriend, Lee Min Jung.
He has other events to attend to while he is here. He is going to take part in the "G.I. Joe 2" promotions event in Hong Kong. Why did the escalator break when Lee Byung Hun came?
Lee, who visited Hong Kong to promote his new film G.I.Joe 2 (directed by Jon M. Chu), went through an awkward moment at the airport because of a broken escalator.
On December 11, Lee arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport and was escorted by the staff of the airport. Lots of reporters were at the airport to interview Lee.
One of the reporters says Lee was wearing sunglasses but very kind. He also showed off his distinctive smile.
However, a problem happened when he arrived in front of an escalator because the escalator suddenly stopped. Lee seemed a bit embarrassed by the situation for a moment but walked down the escalator with a smile.
On December 12, Lee attended a promotional event to release a 3D version of the film G.I.Joe 2 and the Asia Press Day at the Grand Hayatt Hotel in Hong Kong.
SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- The local costume drama "Gwanghae: the Man Who Became the King" starring Korean heartthrob Lee Byung-hun became the third most-viewed Korean film of all time, its distributor said Wednesday.
The box-office hit also known as "Masquerade" wrested "The King and the Clown" (12.302 million) in 2005 from third place, selling slightly more than 12.304 million tickets at local theaters, CJ Entertainment said.

Lee Byung-hun’s first costume movie “Masquerade” has earned the title as the third biggest grossing film in the Korean film history.
The period-set film registered a total of 12,304,000 audience members on December 12, surpassing the former No. 3 “King and the Clown” (2005), the pic’s distributor CJ Entertainment said Wednesday.
Director Choo Chang-min’s fourth feature climbed up to the third place in exactly one month time after stealing the fourth position from 2003 hit blockbuster “Taegukgi.”
This record has been set in three months after it opened in local theaters on September 13 when the film handed in the lucky baton from 2012 action blockbuster “The Thieves,” Korea’s biggest hit movie of all time.
Now all eyes are on whether the film will surpass the goal set by the current No. 2 “The Host” (2006) which brought in 13,019,740.
The faction drama about Korea’s medieval king Gwanghae [which is the pic’s Korean title] has been invited to several overseas film festivals in Abu Dhabi, Paris and London.
