Sir Alex Ferguson has shot down speculation linking Manchester United to CSKA Moscow custodian Igor Akinfeev.
Ferguson got to see the Akinfeev operate in close proximity when Man United played CSKA in the UEFA Champions League, when his Red Devils won 1-0 at the Luzhniki Stadium.
The Russian goalkeeper has made a name for himself as one of Europe's premier shot-stoppers over the last 12 months and rumours have been surfacing that United are in hot pursuit of the 23-year-old.
However, Ferguson insisted that if 38-year-old Edwin Van der Sar decided to retire, Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak would take over his place.
"I can't deal with rumour because we have two very good young goalkeepers at the club at the moment in Kuszczak and Foster and the future lies with them," he said.
"When Edwin Van der Sar finally decides to retire I'm quite confident these players can take over."

Valencia shines, as Nani sinks
Question marks were raised when Antonio Valencia was bought by Manchester United, but his winning goal on an artificial pitch proves he is the real deal.
The Ecuadorian’s goal was a record breaker, as it moved United level with Ajax’s 14 match unbeaten away run in the Champions League and handed the club a maiden victory against Russian opposition.
Valencia’s stretched finish on 86 minutes from a tantalisingly placed Dimitar Berbatov header was all he and his team-mates deserved.
Dominant from kick off, United showed no ill effects of a 1,500 mile trip as they played CSKA Moscow off the park to register the 1-0 victory.
The tight 4-5-1 formation deployed when on foreign soul in the Champions League has guided the Red Devils to within touching distance of Ajax’s benchmark and has given them their mettle.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to hand Valencia consecutive starts away from Manchester in the cup also paid dividends.
The former Wigan Athletic man is an old fashioned winger, happy to get his head down and run at his opposing full-back and lay on quality balls for the centre-forwards.
United’s scouts wouldn’t have expected a goal return from him so early in his Old Trafford career, but the knack of hitting match changing strikes is a welcome bonus.
While he excelled on the right wing, Nani was a victim of his own devices again on the opposite flank. Blessed with a box of tricks the envy of his Ecuadorian colleague, he lacks his composure and ability to deliver a final ball.
The animosity between him and Berbatov is plain to see. The Bulgarian ploughed a lone furrow up front, and at no time was he helped by Nani.
In full flight, he is a joy to behold. CSKA full-back Chidi Odiah barely got a tackle in as Nani glided past him with impunity.
All too often, this advantage was wasted as he clumsily flung in crosses that hit the centre-backs rather than Berbatov. Coupled with his propensity to mess up simple passes to feet, the time is fast approaching for Ferguson to decide whether he is a help or a hindrance.
Valencia is now repelling the critics’ barbs with his displays; Nani is simply handing them more ammunition.
