Guus Hiddink Refutes Chelsea Link
The Russia coach has quickly brushed off speculation linking him with the vacant manager's position at Chelsea.
Bookmakers in England have moved quickly to install current Russian national team coach Guus Hiddink as the favourite to take over from Luiz Felipe Scolari, today sacked as Chelsea manager, at Stamford Bridge.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes are quoting the Dutchman at odd of 5/2 to be the next Chelsea gaffer. However, the coach himself 'dead-batted' suggestions by reporters that he was in line to take over from the Brazilian in west London, as he works with his Russian squad at a warm weather training camp in Turkey.
"I have no news for you," the Dutchman told Reuters earlier.
"I'm not concerned with what has been said about me elsewhere, I'm working here now."
Roberto Mancini is also listed as one of the favourites, despite his agent earlier refuting suggestions that the former Inter Milan coach was on his way to the Premier League,with the Italian being quoted at 7/2. The Ladbrokes list includes Frank Rijkaard at 9/2 and Jose Mourinho at 6/1. Last season's manager Avram Grant is at 10/1 along with former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson.
"We've laid all six of the front-runners and the only man not attracting money is Tony Adams," said Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison to The Daily Telegraph earlier.
"But the one we're keen to keep on side is definitely Mancini."
