British teen imprisoned for texting-related death

It goes without saying that talking whilst driving (let alone texting) isn't exactly the safest practice, and unfortunately for a British teenager, she could have four solid years to think about it. Rachel Begg, who was found to have used her cellphone nine different times in the 15 minutes prior to crashing into a grandmother's vehicle and subsequently killing her, was recently found guilty and sentenced to four years in prison. To make matters worse, Begg was driving nearly 70 miles-per-hour on a dark, rainy night, and the judge reportedly emphasized how costly her lack of reason was. Better leave the texting 'til after the ride's over, eh?
Teen Imprisoned For Text-Messaging Death

A British teenager was sentenced to prison for causing a fatal accident by text-messaging on her cell phone while driving 70 mph on a rainy night.
Rachel Begg, 19, was sentenced to four years in prison for the death last year of Maureen Waites, 64, a grandmother who was driving to Newcastle airport to pick up a relative, The Times of London reported Saturday.
Begg, a bank worker who hoped to become an accountant, used her cell phone nine times in the 15 minutes before she rear-ended Waites' car, which spun out and hit a crash barrier, police said.
Waites, of Wingate, died at the crash scene. Begg, of nearby Ponteland, suffered neck injuries. An investigation showed Begg made and received phone calls and read and sent text messages in the 15 minutes before she hit Waites' car.
"To send a text message is even more perilous at night in a darkened car, the judge told Begg as she cried at her sentencing. (c) UPI |

kebanyakan flyover yang aku temui ialah yang seperti berikut di mana tiada ruang lebihan untuk penunggang motosikal/basikal berteduh.
sesetengah flyover memang tiada kemampuan untuk menawarkan ruang lebihan tersebut, tetapi terdapat juga sesetengah tempat yang mana memiliki kemapuan tersebut tetapi tidak mengadakan ruang tersebut.
aku sangat sangatlah gembira jika pihak yang berkenaan dapat meminda jalan di bawah flyover supaya menjadi seperti berikut. walaupun mungkin tidak mampu diwujudkan di kesemua tempat, sekurang kurangnya dapatlah diperbanyakkan di mana mana yang mungkin. |
