Danny Welbeck joins Preston North End on loan from Manchester United

Youngster joins up with Fergie Jr at Deepdale...

Manchester United confirmed on Monday that striker Danny Welbeck has moved to Preston North End on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old is Preston boss Darren Ferguson's first major signing since being appointed as manager at Deepdale as replacement for Alan Irvine.

Welbeck has appeared 11 times for United's first team this season and has netted League Cup goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Barnsley.

He goes straight into the North End squad for Tuesday night's trip to Peterborough United.

The England U-21 international gives his new club options out wide as well as up front as they look to improve on their current 17th position in the Championship.
