6. Seo In Guk (1987) He is probably the least expected one to be crown prince, but Seo In Guk took up the challenge as Crown Prince Gwanghae in The King’s Face. He doesn’t look that bad as a crown prince, however, he has too strong of a modern vibe and doesn’t really have the aristocrat feel. Probably the role of a intelligent poor scholar, royal guard or assassin is more apt.
7. Kim Soo Hyun (1988) He’s the older version of the Crown Prince and later, the King of Joseon inMoon Embracing the Sun and has captured many hearts with his emotional devotion to his first love. Surprisingly, Kim Soo Hyun actually pulls off the Sageuk look and can fill in many different kind of Sageuk roles be it rich or poor.
8. Park Bo Gum (1993) It is his first Joseon dynasty role and Park Bo Gum scored it big with the role ofCrown Prince Lee Yeong in new hit drama Moonlight Drawn By Clouds (Love in the Moonlight). Among all the contenders, I believe Park Bo Gum is probably the most eligible Crown Prince with his refine good looks and boyish charms that eludes an elegance that I have yet to seen from any other crown princes. This refine-ness and elegance gave him the rich aristocratic look and there is no other roles to fit him besides a prince. I doubt he will be able to pull off the poor commoner or royal guard look. So yes, I dare say he is the most handsome and eligible crown prince in Sageuk drama.
9. Yoo Seung Ho (1993) Before Yeo Jin Goo is the popular choice for being a younger self of someone else, Yoo Seung Ho is probably his predecessor. He has taken a few roles as a young prince or king in films and drama and he ain’t that bad in all of them. Like Kim Soo Hyun, he is someone that can pull off most roles be in both modern and historical dramas and to a certain extend, he eludes some kind of grace that the higher up should have. Probably not as elegant as Park Bo Gum, but definitely not far behind. They both have different charms and feel when it comes to the higher up roles as Yoo Seung Ho gives off a more ‘I have power as the chosen one’ feel, a dignified prince. I will be very interested and hope to see him take up a Crown Prince or King role in the near future.
10. Yeo Jin Goo (1997) Yeo Jin Goo is an on demand actor and he has been on countless Sageuk dramas, where it is to the extend that I feel he is more a Joseon character than a 21st century person. He definitely did pulled the young crown prince role off with capital A. He has the rich and fortunate look where a king would definitely want him as the son. Not just any son, but the crown prince. BONUS
Lee Jun Ki Lee Jun Ki is probably one of the most famous actor that acts in many period dramas but never once was made a prince, lest mentioned, crown prince, only till recently being titled the fourth prince in Scarlet Heart: Ryeo. I honestly cannot remember him in modern clothes anymore. He is like the true blue blood of Sageuk drama. However, the thing about Lee Jun Ki is that he doesn’t have the crown prince or prince look. Sure, he has the aristocrat look, but in terms of prince feel? Not really. Probably the opportunity to showcase the full fledge prince material is not there yet, but one thing we know for sure, Lee Jun Ki and Sageuk drama? You won’t be disappointed. He could pull off all kinds of roles in period drama even as a girl.
