Carlos Tevez opens door to Manchester United exit
Carlos Tevez last night opened the door to an exit from Manchester United - and invited moves from Real Madrid ... and even Manchester City.
The Argentina striker has shocked Sir Alex Ferguson with comments about his future that will spark a major transfer scramble.
"If a club comes up with a five-year contract I would have to think about it for myself and the future of my family," said 24-year-old Tevez.
He revealed his frustration at the lack of a concrete offer from United and told Radio Del Plata
in Argentina: "I would like to stay but I have not had an offer from United for over a year and a half.
"That is why when I hear how much Ferguson says he likes me, I am surprised I have not had a proposition from him. I find that strange.
"I didn抰 like him saying I didn抰 like the offer I was made, because neither my agent nor me were given one.
"I don抰 know anything on my future. United know what they must pay if they want me to stay. If I do have to leave, then so be it."
Real showed interest recently, but City have also kept an eye on developments - with Tevez抯 handlers still close to the power brokers at Eastlands.

Carlos Tevez: I'd Love To Join Real Madrid
Speculation is rife over Carlos Tevez's long-term future at Manchester United. He is yet to be offered a permanent contract - his two-year loan expires at season's end - and clubs across Europe are lining up for his signature.
Real Madrid are thought to be at the head of the queue. They enquired about the Argentine forward before he joined the Red Devils from West Ham United in the summer of 2007, and have been keeping tabs on him ever since.
And the admiration is mutual, as the 24-year-old has confessed that he would be overjoyed to don the famous white strip of the Bernabeu giants.
"Who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid?" The Sun quoted Tevez as having said in 'a Spanish magazine'.
"Like Manchester, they are one of the best clubs in the world — and it would be a pleasure to play for them."
These alleged comments come less than 24 hours after the former Corinthians star declared that he would strongly consider any and all offers that might come his way.
Thus, it appears United will have to work fast if they wish to tie down Tevez, although they still seem reluctant to meet the pre-agree €34 million fee. |
