Javelin, Metis and Milan are man portable missiles, others are not.
Best one today is Spike, the only missile that allows both fire and forget and fire and update. ;)

From what I read ,this AtGM buy wil be vehicle launched and medium to long range type...hence only 18 will be procured .what interests me , what platfrom/vehicle will be use?..I suspect retrofit on Korean AFVs or Adnans.... |

well, that depends on the system really because it will determine what kind of integration needed, how intensive the carrier will have to be modified, what kind of guidence system will be needed and so on and so forth.
the safest way is to use a ready made system or a system that has been used by another country. But knowing Malaysia, it will be intensively modified to suit our needs. or it is because we Malaysians like to modify everything
The downside of the "let's modify everything" approach is that it will increase the cost of everything, from the cost of integration, time and the risk of the program scrapped because of unrealistic expectation. Another "dark" side of this approach is most of the components are usually selected through brochure buying. The manufacturer will of course say they can integrate their equipment into every system in the face of the earth during their sales pitch. but when the contract is signed, its another story all together.

That may be very true for more sophiscated weapons such as, aircrafts, ships or tanks. ATGM is a straight forward thing. I don't think you will have much problems. |

Used in Algeria & Indochina... at that time 'Vespa' is very popular machine, I doubt they still in service today |

Of course it works. the whole point is to have motor powered movement for a relative heavy weapon to give an edge to infantry.
But the barrel seems to be fixed onto the front of the scooter, but I'm sure they can dismantle the thing to give it that flexibility when necessary. |
