'TWSSG' Jeju set was made public for the first time

The appearance of Jeju set of drama 'TWSSG' starring BYJ was made public for the first time.
The set that was made public to media on 16 is the Kooknae Castle grand palace built on about 20,000-pyeong site inside Myosanbong Tourist Area in Kimnyeong-Ri, North Jeju County in Jeju Island, and the production company revealed that it was constructed with 13 billion won investment.
The inside of the Kooknae Castle grand palace consists of the King's work place and residence, and outside is made by properly combining wood and stone, and Choo Byeongdo, director in charge of art for the set told, "For the Kooknae Castle grand palace, we put efforts to express it the most beautifully and magnificently to fit its majesty."
Also, the production company explained, "The set of the 'TWSSG' constructed its spaces to fit to angles as viewed from camera, not by actual distances between buildings so that, although people cannot see from naked eyes, when they see the video taken by camera, they can get magnificent and brilliant feeling that is different from history dramas until now."
'TWSSG' is pushing forward to be distributed to over 90 countries in entire world, and is planned to be aired on MBC in around May 2007 .

As for myself ~
I had pulled my "handbrakes" early for the rest of the on going dramas until MARCH 07.
Actually, I have thrown my anchor into the sea of " Joo Jin Mo " ...
happily stucked there till now.
Need some overhaul ............  to clear up my mind & rest my eyes !!
Otherwise, I'd have to change my NAME from 'MYPUPPYIZ' to " PANDA EYES" 
cause my eyes are starting to look like a panda's nowadays for burning too much midnite oil & getting overly obsessed with all the good looking KOREAN OPPA & UNNIE .

Preview DVDs of Yonsama's New TV Drama
Pre-order Sales Exceed 150,000 Copies
Korean actor Bae Yong Joon's (34) new TV drama TWSSG
has gained much popularity even before going on air.
To be released from 7th March, the TWSSG preview DVDS - gold and silver discs -
have seen a sales record of 150,000 copies from pre-orders alone.
The drama has achieved a sales number from just its preview DVDs
that is comparable to sales of drama DVDs.
The sales agent for the said DVD, AVEX said that
compared to the average sales of about 10,000 copies for the usual movies,
the record of 150,000 copies set by this TWSSG preview DVDs
is considered a bestseller,
even if we were to compare it to those actual movie DVDs
released after the works have been screened.
Today, even though it's not unusual to see the release of making DVDs
even before the movies are screened,
but it is still an unusual sight for an overseas TV drama
to release making DVDs prior to broadcast.
The fact that two discs have been released is also a first for the industry.
The Gold DVD documents how Yonsama had gone through
horseback riding and martial arts practice in preparation for the drama,
and also contains his latest message for the fans, amongst others.
The Silver DVD trails Yonsama in filming very closely,
displaying the clip when he fell off from the horse,
and also other difficult shooting scenes.
These contents were previously veiled and not shown to the public,
therefore they're now the object of close attention for the fans.
The drama will air in Korea in May, and is targetted to air in Japan this summer.
The very first media release about the production of TWSSG
was about two years ago, in April 2005.
It has taken almost two years from production to actual broadcast,
the yearning (hunger?) and the anticipation from the fans have grown
and escalated to the extent that has led to the unusual situation today.
The image of Yonsama on horseback in the role of the Great King Gwanggaetto
is revealed in Japan for the very first time.

TV Producers Vow to Curb Exorbitant Fees for Stars
TV production companies are joining hands to curb spiraling fees for acting stars, which they say take up the lion's share of production costs and damage overall quality and competitiveness. Altogether 31 production companies including KimJongHak Production, Olive Nice, Logos Film and PAN Entertainment that form the Corea Drama Production Association in a board meeting last Friday decided to improve conditions for drama production.

An association spokesman on Monday said drama production companies get W80 million to W100 million from networks per episode of a series with 16-24 installments. Of that, an average of W50 million is spent on the stars. The fees for popular writers are between W10-30 million. He said this works to the detriment of overall production quality and supporting players and crew, who number between 80-100 per episode. It also makes it hard for production companies to turn a profit, he added.
Thus if an A-list star gets W25 million per show, another will calculate his fees at a certain percentage above that. The fees for popular writers are also skyrocketing.
Korean Wave superstar Bae Yong-joon was paid W50 million per episode of "Taewangsashingi"which deals with the history of the Koguryo Kingdom from its founding to the achievements of the King Kwanggaeto the Great. Other big stars like Goh Hyun-jeong get W25 million. The spokesman said this was the reason for the excessive product placements that disrupt the shows and in addition encourage under-the-table dealings.
"The situation is so bad that there is little thought for outstanding supporting players and experienced crew," he said. "But the high fees for the stars increase the cost of Korean dramas, and that damages exports."
The association will seek measures to adjust star fees and discuss the matter with the Korean Broadcasters Association as well as others in the movie industry.

While there is high interest in successor that will continue line of drama 'Joomong' that had grand finale in people's interests, expectation on the 'TWSSG' starring hallyu top star BYJ is getting high also in Japan.
On the past 13, at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan where Classic Concert, produced by BYJ for the first time, was held, Mr. Yang Keunhwan, a board director at BOF, BYJ's agency, wente up the stage and told BYJ's fans about BYJ's recent newss.
Telling, "New drama 'TWSSG' has finished 60 % of shooting at present. Because he has been busy with shooting, BYJ lost weight a little", director Yang revealed that the production was progressing smoothly.
At the concert on that day, over 10,000 fans gathered resulting in big success, and BYJ, who could not attend because of shooting of much talked about drama 'TWSSG' delivered message on screen saying, "I wish someday I can taste that moving feeling you have felt and that lingering sound remaining in heart (upon hearing) today's concert together with you."

Story and Character of TWSSK
Hi everyone. I want to introduce characters and story line of TWSSK. Anyone who does not want to know about story is recomended not to read this. In below, writings in a bracket means something that I can not be sure of.
1. In ancient days, a son of God(Hwan Woong) came down to the earth of Korea. Three gods followed this son of God, God of Rain, Wind and Cloud. In the earth, god of rain becomes Black God, god of wind becomes White God, and god of cloud Blue God. This son of God, Hwan Woong(played by BYJ), met two women in the earth. One is a woman of Bear Tribe and the other is a woman of Tiger Tribe. These two women had powers to control fire. Seo is the name of woman of Bear Tribe and Kajin is the name of woman of Tiger Tribe.
The son of God chose Seo, the woman of Bear Tribe, as his wife and Seo became the fourth God of Fire, Red God. Son of God took the power of Fire from the woman of Tiger Tribe, Kajin.
2. Two thousand years are passed.
There are Kingdom of Kokuryo. Kokuryo people believed they are descendants of the glorious Kingdom of Joo Sin. There is a legend that, some day, the Great King and Four Gods will be born again.
One day, a red star appears in the day light, which is a sign "The Great King is born now" At that time, two princes are born, one is Dam Deok, and the other is Yeon Hoge.
Yeon Hoge's father, Yeon Garyo is the most powerful man in the Kingdom. He governs a region called Hwa Cheon. In this Hwa Cheon region, many tribes live together, Tiger Tribes, black magicians and others. Yeon Garyo organize Hwa Cheon people under the name of Great Hwa Cheon People(Dae-Hwa Cheon-Hoe). Leader of this Hwa Cheon region is Choi Min Soo(whose playing name is not known), who is also the leader of Tiger Tribe. Yeon Garyo can govern this region as he is friendly with this Tiger Tribe leader.
Yeon Garyo is very happy when his son is born under the red star, but whne he knows there is other prince born in the same day, he trys to kill the other prince, Dam Deok.
3. (a Chinese wise man also knows that the Great King is born, who will become a strong rival to China. This wise man orders his soldiers to find and kill the Four Gods, because without four gods, the Great King will never accomplish his destiny. Four Gods have stones in which soul of God is sealed. Red God has red stone, Blue God has blue stone, etc. These four gods do not know they are Gods until when the sealed soul of God is released from those stones. Soldiers of wise man can not kill the four gods but they release the souls of God from the stones. These souls of Four Gods are to be released when these gods, as human forms, feel so sad. Soldiers make their souls so sad and souls of Four Gods are coming out from the stones.)(fumi am not sure whether these soldiers are Chinese soldiers or not)
4. Meanwhile, there is a girl named Seokiha, Tiger Tribe, who has a power to control fire. Tiger Tribe people think this Seokiha is a rebirth of legendary woman of Kajin(see above). As a baby(maybe), she is sent to Bear Tribe as a spy to kill Dam Deok in the future. As she has some magical power, Seokiha becomes a priest in the Kingdom.
Seokiha has a younger sister, named Suzeeny. When Red God is born in the Kingdom, she is often born in Suzeeny's family line. People think Seokiha or Suzeeny may be Red God. Suzeeny does not like a living in the castle and very wild girl, who does not look like Red God at all(it seems she lost the red stone which becomes a proof that she is Red God).
5. People in Kokuryo think Yeon Hoge is the Great King. He is quite bigger than other children of same age, very strong. (With reasons I donot know) His mother trys to kill Kokuryo King using the magic poison. Dam Deok as a kid notice her conspiracy by which she is killed. Yeon Hoge becomes an enemy to Dam Deok from this time.
How Dam Deok can survive while Yeon Garyo and Tiger Tribe try to kill him? Because some Kokuryo knights think Dam Deok is the real Great King and protect him.
6. There is Blue God named Choro, one-eyed man. This Choro can tell who is Red God and he lives in Hwa Cheon with Tiger Tribe. (this part is one of the biggest mystery of the story, but it seems)Choro thinks Seokiha is Red God.
(fumi:this Choro is supposed to live in the place where Red God is. Red God is someone who is really loved by Choro. This one is supposed to be blind, but now one-eyed)
7. Yeon Hoge hates Dam Deok, as he thinks Dam Deok killed his mother and took his lover Seokiha. Hid father and The leader of Tiger Tribe want to make him the Great King, but he is not interested in Crown but only in Seokiha.
Do not forget, Black God. This one knows every history and only this one thinks Suzeeny is Red God. He becomes a teacher of Suzeeny and these two travels around. Black God tells Dam Deok that he is true Great King.
8. Though Yeon Hoge loves Seokiha, Seokiha loves Dam Deok. To Dam Deok, (it seems)Seokiha is someone very precious but someone between a real friend and real lover. Seokiha knows her destiny as a re-birth of Kajin, but she can not follow her destiny as she really loves Dam Deok.
Dam Deok also knew Seokiha's past and misunderstood her.
9. Now, Dam Deok try to find the last Four God, White God of Choo Moo Chi, who will make Iron Sword for him. Yeon Hoge, who lost two loves(mother and lover) by Dam Deok now becomes an evil man, who is waiting for Dam Deok's iron army for revenge of everything. There will be a great war between these two man.
What happens to Seokiha, who also lost everything. We will know when you see TWSSK. |

The images of the Four Gods.
Baekho (white god, tiger) Joojak (Red god, phoenix?) Chungryong (Blue god, Dragon) Hyunmu (Black god, hybrid of turtle and snake?)
'The Legend" confirmed to Air on June 25th
 Bae Yong Joon's new historical fantasy drama "The Legend" (script by Song Jina and directed by Kim Jong Hak) has pushed back its first broadcast date again, which is now confirmed to air on June 25th.
The PR agency for "The Legend" revealed on the 3rd that "after endless negotiations with MBC, we came to a conclusion to have the broadcast date on June 25th."
Just not so long ago, MBC had decided that "The Legend" would air after "H.I.T." and was set to air on May 28th. But production company of "The Legend," Kim Jong Hak Productions requested for more time since the cg effects for the drama will take longer, so eventually the broadcast date was pushed back. "The Legend" was originally planned to air in March.
After the national Korean broadcast was delayed to June 25th, "The Legend" seems that it will be seen by the viewers in Korea and Japan at nearly the same time. "The Legend" will be broadcasted through NHK in Japan.
Due to the delay in the broadcast of "The Legend," MBC plans to air the 8 episode miniseries, "Wise Mother Shin."
The plans for "The Legend" were started in 2003 and filming was started last March. It had a full support, but it is currently only 60% complete. But as a fantasy drama, the cg effects are crucial, so it seemed hard to complete everything by the first broadcast date.
"The Legend" portrays the life of the 19th king of Goguryeo, and the characters of the Four Gods. The funding for this drama was 43 million won, and will feature Bae Yong Joon, Moon So Ri, Jung Jin Young, Choi Min Soo, and others. Currently, the filming is still in progress on location in Jeju Island.

Shocking Selection Of Uprising Actress Lee Ji Ah To Star As Bae Yong Joon's Woman
The upcoming drama "The Legend" which is scheduled to air starting June 25th has finally revealed the female actress for the role that will be opposite to Bae Yong Joon's character.
The MBC drama "The Legend" will air on Mondays and Tuesdays, and have been scheduled to have 24 episodes. The character opposite to Bae Yong Joon's character of Dam Duk, the 19th king of Goguryeo, is the character Soo Ji Ni, who will be played by the uprising newcomer Lee Ji Ah. She is known to have majored in graphic design and received her degree in the arts, and is also proficient in English.
Instead of picking top stars well-liked by the public such as Kim Tae Hee and Ha Ji Won, a newcomer was chosen, which shows the true intentions of director Kim Jong Hak. He wanted someone who could bring life into the character than someone who was just well-known.
After many rounds of auditions and selecting Lee Ji Ah, director Kim Jong Hak said, "she has Shim Eun Ha’s beauty and Go Hyun Jung's strength. She is like the female warrior character of Soo Ji Ni, who is honest, frank, and refreshing."
Lee Ji Ah has received the best opportunity to work with a top Korean star Bae Yong Joon and become a top star herself in the 43 million won drama "The Legend."
"The Legend" started filming since last March, and has completed about 60% of the filming current to date. Director Kim Jong Hak, who had made national dramas such as "Eyes of the Dawn," "Hourglass," etc, has everyone’s attention for this upcoming drama.

Airing of TWSSG could be delayed
Yoon Eunhye, out as a pinch hitter for BYJ!

As broadcasting schedule of the drama 'TWSSG' starring BYJ is postponed due to delay in its production, 'Coffee Prince Store #1' was put in as a pinch hitter.
Originally, the 'Coffee Prince Store #1' was scheduled to be aired in the end of July, following weekend drama 'Air City'. As the 'TWSSG' is undergoing difficulty in computer graphic works, the 'Coffee Prince Store #1' was suddenly changed from weekend drama to Monday-Tuesday drama. They plan to replace the vacancy created by taking out 'Coffee Prince Store #1' with 'Two out in the bottom of 9th inning' where Soo Ae and Lee Jungjin will act together.
As the shooting for the 'Coffee Prince Store #1' already progressed since one month ago, it does not have much difficulty in making the airing schedule in time.
However, the 'TWSSG', having already put off its broadcasting schedule several times, is having difficult avoiding arrow of criticism. Original plan to air in early in this year has long become a bubble (went up in smoke), even the plan to air on June 25 also became a bubble (came to nothing).
During the stage of production, disputes did not stop including court battle as a contention was raised that it plagiarized a comic 'Nation of Wind'.
In and out of the MBC, worrying voices are getting high about coming and going scheduling of 'TWSSG' with much talk and trouble.
